5.0 out of 5 stars a great album......DONT BUY IT!!!!, Dec 19 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Vincebus Eruptum (Audio CD)
...A lot of people have called Blue Cheer the first heavy metal band and "vincebus Eruptum" the first heavy metal album ever made . And in a way they were . Blue Cheer had albums out before Led Zeppelin ( I dont care what anyone says Zeppelin wasnt heavy metal just some trashy blues band) and Black Sabbath . Now most reviewers have commented on how loud they were but that just doesnt describe the volume these guys played at ... If you were standing in the "cheap seats" or even out doors it still felt like you had your ear pressed up to one of the speaker cabinets (the volume and projection of the sound was that great)in fact the band's manager reported that at a pratice one day they received noise complaints from ten , yes TEN MILES AWAY! ...now I dont know if that was true , but wouldnt be surprised if it was .(what do you expect? I remember guitarist Leigh Stevens had ten Marshall stacks)

As for the album you should find something to like about it as it is one of the best that gets labeled as "acid rock" . But just why shouldnt you buy it? well the thing is that if you want to save money then you should take a look around amazon for the album "vincebus eruptum: outsideinside" . The album "vincebus eruptum: outsideinside" is a much better deal , because when you buy it you get this album and "outsideinside " on one disk ! and it also has a quicktime video of "summertime blues" on it

5.0 out of 5 stars No match!, July 2 2004

Blue Cheer is unfortunately one of the most underestimated bands ever. People say SAbbath invented heavy. Forget it, Blue Cheer, where the first that ever did heavy metal. So much noise, so much talent. Their debut album Vincebus Eruptum, is so immense, with so many genius songs. My personal favorite is "Out Of Focus".

Leigh Stephens guitar sound is so high, and cool. Ive never heard anything like it.

And by the way, not only oldies listen to this music. im 16 right now, listened to them since i was 14
