Praise for Virtual Team Success

"There's no school for this yet, but when the first is established, Virtual Team Success: A Practical Guide for Working and Leading from a Distance will certainly be the core curriculum."
—Jessica Lipnack and Jeffrey Stamps, CEO and co-founders, NetAge

"Virtual Team Success is a must have for anyone managing geographically-dispersed teams. DeRosa and Lepsinger bring experience and credentials to guide us all through the labyrinth of problems that so often derail virtual teams. As our global businesses become increasingly complex, I can't imagine a more timely or better resource."
—Jay Moldenhauer-Salazar, vice president, talent management, The Gap

"For global teams that want to be top-performing, Virtual Team Success should be their team handbook. It's loaded with tools, checklists, models, and practical recommendations for working and leading from a distance. This is the kind of book virtual teams really need to be successful. I've been waiting for a book like this and look forward to recommending it as a resource that can help improve the performance of our teams!"
—Kathleen McGuire, manager organizational development, Bayer Healthcare HR Global Leadership Development

"Virtual teams are intended to make optimal use of expertise spread across the world, but performance excellence is the exception and mediocrity the rule. After extensive and careful study of real teams, DeRosa and Lepsinger have captured essential information, principles of operation, and tools in a highly readable volume that can help thoughtful readers elevate the performance of the teams significantly. The practical focus, collection of techniques and tools, and "how to" tips provide an essential foundation for anyone with virtual team responsibility. The organization of the book centered around challenges, differentiators, and lessons will facilitate finding answers to any problem the team faces. The RAMP model makes it easy to focus on what's important in enabling top performance."
—Mike Beyerlein, professor, Organizational Leadership, Purdue University

3.0 out of 5 stars Decent read for those new to leadership; especially leading virtual employees June 16 2013
By J.R. Espino - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
I do like how the book can be used as a "handbook", allowing you to flip to the relevant pages of the book for your needs (as opposed to having to read it straight through). I was a little disappointed in the content because it was somewhat basic, and I had expected more from a book with its price tag. Quite honestly, when I opened the package I was surprised to see how thin the book is with larger font; and then led to further disappointment with the afforementioned lack of content. I then found a number of typos and incorrect grammar. I'm not usually that particular about my books, but had higher expectations based on the cost.
Even with my disappointment, I give it an "It's okay" because it does include good fundamentals that are always worth re-visiting.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must have for virtual team members and leaders! Nov. 28 2010
By EWozniak - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
I have been leading a virtual team for years at a global company and have read practically every virtual team book that has been released. All of the books I have read addressed the challenges faced by virtual teams, but only "Virtual Team Success" provided practical examples of how to address these challenges and how to avoid future issues. I applaud the authors for giving virtual teams a handbook of sorts to use as a guide going forward. My virtual team is far from perfect so I hope to incorporate some of the tips and guidelines to make our team more efficient and ultimately more successful.

2.0 out of 5 stars Very simplistic May 7 2014
By Tony Sherman - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
It is very much a new managers book, and pretty theoretical; unfortunately light on practical techniques. This is one of the kindle books I wish I could return. Lots of words, however low actionable content. I can imagine this book being a great book in the mid to late 1990s.

Pretty disappointed.

This is a great guide for managing virtual teams and environments. Highly recommend this for any company looking at going virtual.
3.0 out of 5 stars Book in great condition but I did not like this book. Nov. 24 2013
By Gaby - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
The content of the book is cheese. It didn't teach me anything. I didn't like the way it was written. The book was too redundant and the modules for virtual team success was ridiculous. The book however was in great condition. If you need to buy it then buy it if you are just looking to read, buy a different book on virtual team success. Make sure the book talks about team plans and how to create one because this book didn't.
