average futuristic movie at best (2.5/5), Sep 14 2007
This review is from: Virtuosity (Widescreen) (DVD)
i saw this movie way back, close to when it came out.i loved it
then.however after watching it today,i'm not sure why.i was just not
impressed.true there was some action, but mostly the movie was loud
music and noises, more than anything.it was directed by Brett
Leonard, and you never no what you might get with him.for instance he
directed the brilliant VR masterpiece,"Lawnmower Man"but then he was
also behind the dreadful(and i mean dreadful)Man-Thing.while"Virtuosity"
is nowhere near as bad as "Man-thing,it is also nowhere near as good as
"Lawnmower Man".the strongest aspect of the movie is Russel Crowe's
performance as the villain.you can tell he really immersed himself in
the role and had a lot of fun with it.Denzel Washinton plays the hero
in the movie, and while his performance wasn't horrible,he has done
better work. Also in the cast are Kelly Lynch and William
Forsythe.Forsythe plays a good guy in this movie,a departure for
him, however his role is very small.now,to the negative aspects of the
movie.there were many boring moments and it was just loud for the sake
of being loud, maybe distracting the viewer into thinking something is
happening, when nothing of any consequence is happening.anyway,i'd have
to say this movie is average at best, therefore 2.5/5

Violence under a sci-fi guise, Jan 25 2006
By A Customer
This review is from: Virtuosity (Widescreen) (DVD)
Not much to report here. Except this movie doesn't offer much - unless you like continued shooting, and violence. Suppose to be sci-fi based, but outside of a few cool compu-graphics, this film bores quickly. Denzel Washington is a good actor here, but Russell Crowe comes across as a nerd-loser, and a poor actor. Not somebody I would aspire to meet in real life. Well, he probably wouldn't aspire to meet me either.

2 stars just for the two oscar winning actors, Jun 3 2004
This review is from: Virtuosity (Widescreen) (DVD)
This has got to be the biggest stinker in Denzel's long movie career, just after the oscar winning Philadelphia, he went on to star in this cult Sci Fi movie based on machines outsmarting mankind in a virtual reality game, Russel Crowe also stars in this very, and i mean very bad movie. But hey, if you're a Sci Fi fan, watch this, but don't expect high rated acting from any of the two big stars. On account, this movie didn't make any sufficent funds at the box office and was later labeled by the Hollywood critic, The Only Movie with Two Lead Star To Not Hit The Box Office. This low budget sleepy movie isn't worth watching, if you love Sci Fi, that outakes the life of machines aginst the human race, pick up a true 5 star Hollywood material like, 'A.I', 'Terminator' 'I', 'II', 'III' or Will Smith's new movie, 'I, Robot'.
