Product Description

From Publishers Weekly

This how-to manual for "manifesting your heart's desire" will no doubt prompt memories of kindergarten collage-making for many readers. Based on her observations of engineers, architects and designers (including toy and theme park creators), Capacchione offers a framework for shepherding an idea into reality, whether the goal is to create a company mission statement, improve one's health or build a dream home. An art therapist, corporate consultant and the author of 10 books (The Creative Journal, etc.), she instructs readers on choosing a theme, gathering images and words that "grab" one's attention, finding order in the chaos, committing one's vision to paper and glue, getting feedback from others, dwelling on one's vision, getting help to implement the plan and celebrating the final result. With a tone that's both playful and serious, Capacchione provides detailed instructions and numerous exercises for working through this process. She also encourages journal writing (using both hands to engage both sides of the brain) and addresses common internal and external obstacles. Even if some of the numerous samples and stories culled from her workshops come across as a bit schematic and glib, Capacchione provides a fun and empowering approach to creativity for those willing to roll up their sleeves and play in the rich field of their desires. Review

"Capacchione doesn't just preach the importance of visualizing goals to see them come true, something we've all heard before. … Her book tells you to get out the scissors and glue and magazine pictures to create collages of the life you want. That becomes the vision, and you will look at it each morning and night."
—Cleveland Plain Dealer

"[Capacchione] not only helps to bring out the best—but helps to discover that there is a best that is worth bringing out."
—Norman Cousins, author of Anatomy of an Illness

"Capacchione's workshop was a powerful tool on my healing jouney. She shares her insights and gives you the opportunity to heal your relationship with your inner child. Go for it!"
—Louise Hay, author of You Can Heal Your Life

5.0 out of 5 stars The book that launch 10,000 dreams April 9 2004
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
This book is a must to launch you directly into your heart's desire. Dr. Capacchione teaches these methods in a certified training program. I found this book to be just what I needed to complete my education, create a career of my dreams, find a new husband, and travel to the places that I desire.

Thanks, Dr. Capacchione for your amazing methods that are as easy as digging out old magazines, finding your scissors and glue.

5.0 out of 5 stars Have a deam a goal? This is a great tool Jun 9 2003
Format:Paperback
I am a big fan of collages and the power (for lack of a better word) they bring to ones life. And this book is a gem because the author also understands their value. As the author notes in Chapter 8 (page 129)
"Since Vision collages come from the heart they contain many levels of meaning. This may not be apparent while you're in the flow of finding and arranging the pieces, cutting, pasting, and adding embellishments. Only upon further contemplation do the layers of meaning reveal themselves. ......"

This is a book by the way that men as well as women will gain power from. I began to make collages about six years ago and like keeping a journal a collage can evolve and change and in the end be a focusing tool for what we really want to get out of life.

It is a book that would make a great gift for the graduate, someone unhappy in a job, marriage or simply on a dead end street of life.
