Format: Paperback
Length: 0:25 Mins
Visions of Never is a book that features six lesser known artists who create fantasy and sci-fi art. Included artists are Paul Lehr, Don Ivan Punchatz, Richard Bober, Rohb Ruppel, Marc Fishman, Mark Zug. I've seen some of their work in Spectrum art books.

There's a nice variety of style, from art you typically see on book covers to fine-art style paintings. There are strange and mysterious planetary art, low brow surreal, old masters and Frank Frazetta inspired pieces. Pretty diverse and different.

The essays are great. They are filled with lots of quotes and insights from the artists. You can read about their processes, influences, thoughts, and how they are affected by how other people think about their work.

This book is recommended for those interested fantasy and sci-fi art.

An Excellent Art Book Collecting Excellent Artists Nov. 30 2009
By Gregory Obaugh - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
Visions of Never is a must have for all fantasy, science fiction, and illustration art fans. If you purchase Spectrum and other art books, you need to add this book to your collection, as well.

There are many illustrations by each of the six artists, along with biographies and wonderful insights from the artists themselves.

Being long-time fans of the genre, and knowing the genre of Fantastic Illustration from the inside-out, Pat & Jeannie Wilshire have done an excellent job creating this book from a fan/collectors point of view, so it is the best of both worlds.

Thanks for an excellent art book. I look forward to the next volume. Hurry up, will ya?!

Great Book! Nov. 27 2009
By Gregg Spatz - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
Pat and Jeannie did an awesome job with this book! "Visions of Never" is one of the best art books of the year and maybe from the last few years. It is well thought out and has great information and pictures from some of the best artists that have worked or are working in the Fantastic art field in the last thirty years. These influential artists include, Richard Bober, Mark Zug, Marc Fishman, Robh Ruppel and the late Don Ivan Punchatz and Paul Lehr.
Anyone that is a fan of the Spectrum series of books should buy this. You will not be disappointed!

Gorgeous! Jan. 6 2010
By David Palumbo - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
This collection is a first rate profiling on six amazing contemporary fantasy illustrators. Each chapter focuses on an individual artist with selected images (a couple dozen full-color per artist) and a text overview which is rich with direct quotes. The images are big and crisp and plentiful and the overall quality of the book is superb. It has the feel of pulling six of your favorite artists from Spectrum who you'd like to know more about and then devoting an entire book to it. Highly recommended for anyone with a real interest in fantastic illustration.
Beautiful images and informative text! Jan. 10 2010
By Vincent Villafranca - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
As a working artist, I am constantly searching for art books that inform and inspire. Visions of Never does just that! The authors, Patrick and Jeannie Wilshire, provide a good amount of text on each of the six featured artists, Richard Bober, Mark Zug, Marc Fishman, Robh Ruppel, Don Ivan Punchatz and Paul Lehr. In addition, the images of the artwork are beautifully reproduced. This book offers a rare peek into the creative process of these artists. I am extremely satisfied with this purchase!
