Book Description

November 1996 0534954855 978-0534954857 Pap/Dsk
Visual Simulation with Student VisSim is a comprehensive guide to solving engineering problems and simulating the dynamics of linear and nonlinear systems and controllers. Starting with a wide variety of electrical, mechanical and chemical systems, the book takes readers through the process of translating these systems into mathematical equations and then expressing them as block diagrams in Student VisSim. This program for Windows computers provides an easy-to-use, interactive simulation environment for modeling the behavior of linear, nonlinear, continuous, discrete, multirate, and hybrid systems. Student VisSim lets the user select from more than 125 mathematical blocks and toolbox functions and wire them together using point and click commands. The program then solves the equations that embody the models and displays the results live in plots and strip charts.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good ... but useless for VisSim 4.x July 15 2002
Format:Paperback
... and actually just because the book is a printed (old) version of the now as PDF included manual. Though not identical, but very similar. Too similar to spend [a large amount of money]. (The book is actually software ... VisSim2.0 Student)
On a positive note, there is a rebate offer for future purchases of VisSim software in the book over [a large amount of money]. (In case you intend to spend at least [an enormous amount of money] on the real thing.)
From a year 2002 point of view: This book is old and not recommended unless you need a printed copy and a freely ditributable version of VisSim (old though).
That leaves the interested reader with a problem: There is virtually no literature available geared towards VisSim.

Clear, concise, and well written. The subject matter is presented in terms understandable to anyone with an interest in learning block diagram modeling/simulation of dynamic physical systems. Numerous solved examples and included demo software further enhances learning. Overall, if you want to quickly learn how to model and simulate using a state of the art block diagram language, read this book. Richard Kolk Principal Engineer - Control Systems UTC/Carrier
