This offers a nice profiling of important names in the last century of fashion. It is enjoyable and simple but still thorough enough to educate those whoo seek the roots of current trends.

This was a Christmas gift for a girlfriend who is obsessed with fashion, but can't quite afford some of the bigger names, yet. When I received the book, it wasn't quite what I was expecting it to be. I thought it would be more photos and timeline, but it seemed to be more information on designers over the past 100 years and photos here and there. Regardless, my friend thought the book was perfect and it kept her occupied for a couple weeks. My only thumbs down would be the small tear that was on the backside of the book. But really, not a big deal in the grand scheme of things.

It's interesting to read about fashion decade-by-decade (first part of the book), or to look up your favorite designers to see their personal and professional histories. However, this book is very poorly written, and even more poorly edited. There are a host of annoying typos. Furthermore, American readers might not realize, as I didn't, that it refers to BRITISH Vogue. Though it's about the fashion and not the magazine, the entire book is written from a British point of view. Still, makes good bathroom reading. Just don't drop it in the toilet. Oops.

I love fashion and I love to see how style and fashion changed and evolved throughout the years. The pictures and photographs are great in this and you will learn some new things you didn't know about fashion. Vogue did a great job with this, and I would definitely recommend this book to anyone.
