Reminds me of the original Slipknot but with the added twist of the acoustics. Corey Taylor has brought his ideas from Stone Sour and intergated them into a sound the is worthy of being on this album. By far this is the culmination of their best work to date, 5 out 5.

Ok I normally like Slipknot, but when I heard this new CD it made me hate them. This has to be their worst CD. Almost all of the songs on the CD sound almost exactly the same and plus they changed their style a bit and they changed it for the worse. I recommened buying their earlier CDs, not this one.

This album is very uninspired. Almost as if they put no time in making it. If they truly do not care about the band anymore then they should just call it quits. I would have liked this album better as Stone Sour, not Slipknot. Once again Rick Rubin takes another great band and tries to commercialize them. Slipknot should not ever put an acoustic song on their albums. Thats not what they are about. There are a few good tracks but they are not as intricate or creative as anything they did on the past two albums. I just hope this is their last album.

For some reason, the idea alone that I DO in fact literally see 10-13 yr olds walking around in Slipknot t-shirts all the time seems enough to give this album only 1 star -
But lets examine the other reasons this album gets one star, & Slipknot is a 1 star band
First off.... What exactly IS Slipknot angry about??? There was a 2 week period in my life where I even called myself a Slipknot fan, I say 2 week period, because I became BORED of them within that time -
Slipknot's reasons for being angry are so full of B.S. - This music is so FULL of itself -
When I hear Slipknot, all I hear is them singing about how hard THEIR lives are, ha, F.U. - Corey Taylor & the rest of Slipknot grew up having no more problems than anyone else does - Only they're much more egotisical, so they think somehow singing about their lives with bad lyrics is justified
Anger is pointless & a waste of energy without meaning.
Remember that.
Remember 'Rage Against the Machine'? they were very angry, but for so many GOOD reasons, they were POLITICAL, Slipknot is NOT - RATM was looking on HOW the world is working & THATS what made them angry... not just CUSSING out the world for no reason
Pearl Jam on the album, 'VS' also was very angry at the world, but for many GOOD , relevant reasons where people would listen to them & think, "Yeah, the world SHOULDNT be that way"
Slipknot has nothing to be angry about, & neither does their fanbase - the majority of Slipknot fans I see are 12 yr olds in Slipknot shirts.... am I suppose to believe that 12 yr olds have a lot to be angry about?

When I first popped this one in, I was expecting another Iowa. Well, I couldn't be more wrong. It was more melodic, no swearing, not as much screaming and heavy guitars, and...guitar solos. I had no idea Slipknot could play such kick ass guitar solos. Why did they hide that? Anyway, it wasn't Iowa, but it was still great. Here's the lowdown:
Prelude 3.0...5/5...Eerie feeling to this one. But cool. This one's a little slower.
The Blister Exsists...5/5...Amazing song. The whole song makes up for that snare solo that drags on in the middle of the song.
Three Nil...5/5...Cool song that's constantly changing. Never gets boring.
Duality...4/5...A good song. Before getting the album, I'd've given it a 5/5, but it doesn't stand out with the rest of the album. So, I only give it a 4. Still good though.
Opium Of The People...5/5...Screaming, then singing. Cool guitars.
Circle...5/5...Acoustic. Singing throughout the whole song. This was the song that completely convinced me that Slipknot wasn't going to start swearing again on this album. Great song though.
Welcome...4/5...Good, but doesn't stand out.
Vermilion...5/5...I heard this on Much Music and saw that the aired version was crap. Don't judge it by what you hear on the radio, its different , and worse, than the real version on the album.
Pulse Of The Maggots...5/5...Awesome Guitar Solo. Probably hardest song on the album.
Before I Forget...5/5...Easily the best song on the album. Great verses, chorus, and bridge. It all flows perfectly.
Vermilion Pt. 2...5/5...Acoustic version of Vermilion. Different lyrics. Amazing.
The Nameless...5/5...Screaming, then a love song chorus, then more screaming, the love song chorus again, more screaming, and then the chorus with distprtion. Great song.

Slipknot Vol3/4is by far one of the best ALBUMS made this past year or so, not just for metal artists but for all musicians in general. The effort displayed on this recording is nothing short of amazing , practicaly flawless! Im still shocked that Slipknot havent won any major awards for their music, they always give'er 150,000% in the studio and on stage!
Fans of their earlier work will be surprised at first due to the major element and tone changes on this record , along with the lack of verbal profanity , this is a whole new Knot.
Track 1:"Prelude3.0" 4/5
An amazing opener to the rest of the album, soft and soothing with well written lyrics. Also their Vol.3 Tour opener track, sounds great live!
Track 2:" The Blister Exists " 5/5
Wow! This is one of the heaviest songs on the record and it delivers from start to finish. amazing drum solo in the middle of the song.
Track 3:"threeNil " 3/5
To me , this song is a filler. Decent enough to listen to once or twice, but the album wouldn't be effected if it was left out.
Track 4:"Duality" 5/5
The first single of the album and it quickly became an instant metal hit. Also sounds amazing live.
Track 5:" Opium Of The People " 5/5
Many radio stations played the hell out of this song and it never got old.Fast guitars with fast singing and mindless lyrics ( in a good way )... a great song to headbang to.
Track 6:" Circle " 4/5
When I first heard this song i thought it was some sort of opening to a heavier track , but after a few minutes i realized; this was Slipknot's first full-blown accoustic song. Nicely written lyrics with great bass make for a great song.
Track 7:" Welcome" 3/5
FILLER,FILLER,FILLER!
