Solid Rock Album,

This review is from: Vultures (Audio CD)
I'm not sure why SES's record label would want to be rid of these guys. If you liked their last album than I'm pretty sure you'll like this one. Has less ballads, acoustic tracks than the last one. Lead singer Sean Danielsen sure swears a lot. Sometimes it seems a bit unnecessary, but oh well. Good album, and good band. My favorite song is the album opener "Out to Sea". Buy this album and support a good band.

Smile Empty Satire,
By Nicholas D. Formica Jr. - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Vultures (Audio CD)
To everyone that has listened to this CD and reviewed it poorly...which CD are you listening to? This album is rife with delicious satire, parody and most importantly, socially-biting hooks. But it doesn't stop at the lyrics, which are masterfully done; the music is actually crafted to bring dissonance and consonance to the entire experience. Look, if you haven't figured out yet that Sean and the rest of the band are both well read and well educated, then pop on your Spinal Tap cd and deconstruct that. There is so much philosophy, so much Nietzsche, Kierkegaard, Freud and so many others sprinkled in both the lyrics and the music it makes it absurdly simplistic to say things like 'Smile let me down' or 'Smile didn't keep it real'. Go back and listen to the album, read some books, and figure out that Smile Empty Soul is one of the finest bands out there. If you want to listen to 'Bottom of a Bottle' every night and complain about progression, be my guest. But then why don't you take a cue from the hidden track and "All move to Hollywood" where everyone is fake. Smile, like they always do, sacrifices fame, money and respect for one thing: the music

Awesome CD,
By S. Baker "Sammy" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Vultures (Audio CD)
I actually bought this CD about a week before it came out at one of Smile Empty Souls shows. After listening to it about two times in a row, and letting it all sink in I have to say that this CD has something to offer everyone. Every song is amazing in its own way, and any Smile Empty Soul fan should have this CD by now and know what I am talking about. Almost anyone can relate to at least one song, or one set of lyrics off of this CD in their own way. Overall, Vultures is simply an amazing CD, so go out and buy it if you haven't already.
