5.0 out of 5 stars The best popcorn ever! June 23 2003
I absolutely adore this popper. I've had mine for four years and it's still going strong. I buy popcorn from the bulk section of my local health food store so I know I'm getting fresh popcorn. No other popcorn comes close to the taste of Whirley Pop popped popcorn! ;)

5.0 out of 5 stars A Poppin' Good Time June 16 2003
By A Customer
Aside from the fun factor of cranking the handle for perfectly popped corn, the finished product is delicious. A tiny bit of oil yields better popcorn than theater, microwave or air-popped popcorn. The beauty of this popper is that you don't need to clean it after each use if you do not add anything other than oil into the popper. Don't be fooled by imitators. Make sure you buy a Whirley Pop!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic popper! Jan. 24 2010
By Heather
I had an electric popper, but the motor was starting to overheat too easily, so I decided to try the Whirley Pop. Wow. What a difference! The same corn is popping up fluffier with only a couple of kernels left unpopped. The pot heats up very quickly - it's a thin aluminum - and the heat distribution is quite even. You do have to turn the crank yourself, but it's not hard to do, and if you have kids, it's something they'd enjoy (as long as you supervised them!).

I timed it last night, and a half cup of popcorn kernels popped in three minutes and filled the pot to the very top. Just as fast as microwave, and faster than my electric popper. The lid snaps off, and the everything washes up easily.

I would recommend this. I'm very pleased with the results. And if 6 quarts of popped popcorn isn't enough, you can easily make a second batch before the first is cold.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best, the only! Feb. 8 2011
Before I got a Whirleypop for Christmas, I thought I made the best popcorn in the world. (I did it on the stove-top in a heavy, cast-iron pot.) No. The Whirleypop makes the best popcorn in the world. And it's never burnt a single kernel, not one. And it really does take exactly 3 minutes, from start to finish. Air poppers completely suck, and produce chewy popcorn. Microwave popcorn is, let's face it, disgusting. Whirleypop is the only way to go. A note to the reviewer who complained that the interior wire-spinner-popcorn-pusher "goes over the kernels" and doesn't push them -- yes, that's right. I doesn't push the unpopped kernels, it only pushes the popped corn, so that the popped corn doesn't burn while the uncooked kernels ... pop! The Whirleypop is also awesome in that there is almost zero waste, zero unpopped kernels. I swear. (Tho, P.S., I don't recommend their pre-flavored "theater-style" kernel packets with the faux-butter flavor. Yuck. Just melt a bit of butter, you can't go wrong: much tastier and much cheaper.)

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Popcorn Maker May 9 2010

My girlfriend and I were always looking for better ways to make popcorn. Tired of half popped or burnt popcorn I decided to try making popcorn on the stove. It worked great but I was worried of scratching my stovetop. Found this item online and decided to try it and we weren't dissapointed. All kernals are popped and you never get burnt popcorn. You can decide what oil to use as well for an even healthier snack.
I would recommend this product for any popcorn enthusiast.

2.0 out of 5 stars Don't Waste Your Money Sept. 14 2013
By Elise
This popper is made of light weight aluminum and your corn can(and eventually will) burn and scorch. The gears are plastic and they strip out and the handle become wobbly and even starts falling apart. We went through two of these and it was frustrating.
This same company makes a much much better popper, heavier stainless steel, all metal, direct drive stir wand, and it's worth every penny more. We threw out this lightweight and bought the better one, still whirley Pop, though!

5.0 out of 5 stars Economical Coffee Roaster! April 26 2013
By Maddie TOP 500 REVIEWER

I remember having popcorn from a Whirley Pop when I was a kid. It was always the best popcorn, and so much fun to pop! Recently I purchased an espresso machine and a burr grinder. Coffee enthusiests told me home roasted coffee tasted a lot better than old coffee from the grocery store that had been sitting on the shelves for months. So, I started reading about how to roast your own green beans.

I have been pan roasting green coffee beans for a couple of months now. The problem was I would get a lot of scortched beans. I read about people using the Whirley Pop to roast their own coffee, so I figured I would order this and if it didn't work, I would still have a great popcorn maker. I did my first roast tonight, and it turned out beautifully! The beans are nice and evenly roasted, and I do not have any scortched beans.

The trick with the Whirley Pop is to crank quickly, and not let the beans sit or stick in one spot too long. The beans in the center will not be stirred if you don't crank fast enough. I also tilted the popper once in a while to ensure the bens in the center were being distributed to the edges where they would be stirred. If you crank too slowly, I am sure the beans will scortch. I should mention this popper is very light weight. It's made of aluminum and will heat up and cool down very quickly.

If you decide to try roasting your own coffee beans, I highly recommend skipping the fry pan and going straight to a Whirley Pop. It's easier, quicker, and the beans will not scortch provided you keep a steady fast crank. It should take about 6-12 minutes for your beans to roast. Start out roasting small batches at a time until you get the hang of it. There will be a lot of smoke. The smoke is normal.
