1.0 out of 5 stars Defective disc 2 Episode2 Feb 12 2012
Format:DVD
I have ordered this series of Waking the Dead three times now.
Each time this series second year has had a defect in dvd #2 episode #2 that prohibits it being played. I have returned the series three times,
requesting each time that a replacement that works be sent to me.
To date, no action has been taken. Has the defect ever been tested???

Waking the Dead: The Complete Season Two
"The cold case team is a crack team of three detectives, a forensic expert and a psychological profiler" (from box) In this series, storming between Boyd, the leader and individual team members is apparent. On the other hand, Grace has a birthday and each team member buys her a gift and she's given a party complete with cake. This seems to make her forget her offer to return to therapy.

Life Sentence: A serial killer is interviewed and the cold case team try to get him to reaveal earlier murders. With research, profiling and difficult interviewing since most of the witnesses are now decessed the case is resolved.

Deathwatch: A serial killer invites the cold case team to interview him by holding out the carrot of revealing more victims. His co-killer, a woman who has confessed to murdering her infant son also awaits death. The plot twists and turns and eventually focuses on the female killer on death row. Death can be a blessing. The ending is a suprise.

Special Relationship: Here the team is audited by the home office. Boyd isn't co-operative. Boyd attacks Grace for relying on books, and Frankie for wanting to do reasearch before she plunges into pathologie. (storming)Of course, Frankie and Grace are proved right and allowed to work in their own way in future. In a couple of episodes Boyd appologizes to individual team members for being overbearing.
The team solves the murder of an MP whose gender preference (a secret) turns out to play a bigger role in her death than her politics.

Thin Air: A teenager disappears, prsumed dead. Years later Boyd reopens the case interviewing the younger sister who was 5 at the time of the disappearance, but is now 16, the same age her sister disappeared. Boyd spars with Spence when he wants to interview a friend of Spence's. Race becomes an issue. Boyd steps on toes as the missing girl is a daughter of a member of parliment. The younger sister plays a key role in luring the murderer out of hiding and solving the case.

In Series 3. the team is a working entity with each member contributing their gifts (performing)

4.0 out of 5 stars This is about the cases and characters not computer animated hype! Nov 21 2007
By J. Andrews - Published on Amazon.com
Format:DVD|Amazon Verified Purchase
Resolving cold cases through improved forensic techniques and psychological examination (in a gentler form than Cracker) makes this a series worth watching and relishing. No hype, no spinning guns, no blood splattering about, but honest footwork conducted by a dedicated team looking for answers. The cast is good enough that French and Saunders made a funny parody of it and was merciless on "Boyd" the Inspector of the team. Excellent cast even in some uneven scripts that are forgivable due to the total sensibility of the series.

5.0 out of 5 stars British Cold Case Feb 20 2008
By James B. Jackson - Published on Amazon.com
Format:DVD
Season two of the British version of Cold Case with less music and more realistic detective work. The forensic specialists actually have to wear unattractive suits when investigating their cases. No cleavage shots and high heels here.

The character development is minimal, yet the characters are so rich and engaging because of the way they interact. Boyd is a unique detective, gruff and confident yet somehow likeable and not coming off as arrogant.

The only negative is the lack of extras. A documentary of the production and the actors would be very welcome. You only get the episodes and nothing else, but what enthralling episodes they are.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Crime Investigation Show Nov 20 2008
By Morten Lokkegaard - Published on Amazon.com
Format:DVD
Not at all a major fan of crime series and certainly not of the past years "virtual rape" by hit series such as CSI (and its multiple off springs) I very reluctantly opened up for series 6 of the show recently. In Denmark each double episode is shown together with no commercial interruption so it actually takes a similar form of a movie (80 minutes in all).

The episodes I have seen so far have been more than decent with very creative plots and story lines and an amazing ability to avoid perfect Hollywood endings, troubled main characters and interesting use of technology (forensics).

For a reluctant crime series watcher like myself 4 Stars basically explode my scale ... If you are even remotely into this kind of thing 5 stars will for sure not be enough.
