4.0 out of 5 stars Cute story! A compelling, light, fun read! Jan. 28 2013

Waking Up Married is one of the better romance books available for free on Kindle. It's unique during these times of generic writers cranking out romances like an Indonesian factory cranks out Nikes. The female protagonist is actually strong and interesting - not helpless and virginal. Add this one to your summer beach reading folder!

5.0 out of 5 stars Books and Bindings Review May 6 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I don’t give out 5 hearts very easily but because it caught me off guard completely, I’m giving it the full 5 hearts it deserves. I got it for FREE from Amazon so I wasn’t really expecting it to be this fun, quirky, and seductive. I was dreading it was going to be a bit of a heavy read and somewhat complicated but it turned out to be a predictable (in a good way) and light read, which made it way better than what I was expecting it to be. It was very cheesy and corny, which I usually don’t like, but surprisingly I loved reading it on this book. It had that perfect cheesiness and corniness to it.

I went through waves of emotions from grinning like a fool to myself, squealing because of excitement, having that “uh-oh-this-is-going-to-be-a-disaster” feeling, laughing so hard forgetting there were people around me, and crying like a baby.

Everything I’m looking for in a guy, I found in Conner.

“All the vital components that make a relationship successful, without any of the emotional messiness to drag it down. It’s about respect, caring and commitment. Shared goals and compatible priorities. It’s about treating a marriage like a partnership instead of some romantic fantasy. It’s about two people liking each other.”

While reading the first few chapters of the book, I was think that sooner or later my “perfect man” fantasy of Conner will be crushed, but it wasn’t.

Conner didn’t release her fingers, but tightened his hold, reeling her back in. “Because you’re mildly pessimistic. Now, knock it off. You don’t remember, but if there’s one thing we do well…it’s talk. About anything.”

“I’ve got you,” His voice was a low rumble against her ear, the contact between them almost a kiss before he stepped back and handed her the dress.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good for a summer beach read June 14 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
If you're in the mood for some light hearted romance with a quick read time, then this is your book. Basically, Connor and Megan find themselves in an awkward situation when too much liquor ends them in a Vegas style marriage. However, Connor is delighted with the idea of a loveless partnership and willing to make it work. If he can only convince Megan.

You've seen it before. They're both hurt over previous circumstances, swear off intimacy, and then a story develops. The reason I am going to recommend this as your next beach read is that Mira Lyn Kelly keeps this book light, keeps her characters well developed (even if he is arrogant), and, more importantly, offers a better back story for them both than your typical romance.

Reading the reviews I noticed those that didn't like this story disliked Connor. Some people are turned off by arrogant characters. That being said, I'm not so much. Arrogance, misconceptions about love, etc. those are realistic qualities.

A man that comes from no where, is rich, sexy, charming, funny, and gentle? Well, you don't rise to the top by being a gentle man. You need spunk. Which often comes in the form of confidence. Unfortunately, confidence and arrogance are a fine line. In this case, Connor can have both, but characters need flaws. And if they don't, then I'm not sure why we don't just stop reading beach read romances and start filling out mad libs.

"He was perfect for her. He had everything. He was _(virtue)_ and _(virtue)_, but more
importantly, he was _(adjective)_ about her."

This book needs some attention. It isn't going to end up on my shelf as my favorite, but it's a wonderful addition to your light, quick, beach read tot bag.

I found the book entertaining, but very predictable. If you are interested in some light reading it would definitely fit.

4.0 out of 5 stars great read. March 27 2014

Very good book. The subject of love and trust are big issues for both involved. Both Megan and Connor were raised with issues of mistrust. Overcoming it was the only way to truly find love. There will always be the fear of losing love, but faith makes the joy boundless.

I love a good romance and this one certainly fit the bill! It has romance, humour and a return to the traditional marriage values. The author did a very good job of drawing the reader in and I hated to put the book down. Really well done!

3.0 out of 5 stars Cute
Predictable but enjoyable. I always wondered what if this ever happened. But if course, this is the best case scenario. The characters were well written. Loved reading this book.
