Excellent for sing a longs with young people June 2 2011
By Lulu - Published on
Format: Hardcover Verified Purchase
I ordered this on suggestion from a friend who used it for her volunteer work in the schools. As I do the same thing I thought it would be great for 'my' young students as well. It was a hit. This is a book that is great which comes with a CD that even the older generation will not get sick of listening to.

Rockin & Rollin Again With My Granddaughter Oct. 15 2010
By Saramel - Published on
Format: Hardcover Verified Purchase
As a teenager in the 60's, I was rockin & rollin with Neil Sedaka. I ordered the book & CD the same day I heard Neil on the radio promoting the book. I actually "sang" this book along with the CD to my 3 year old granddaughter. When we got to the end, she said "more Nana". By the 4th "reading" she was also singing the words. It was glorious sharing my old music with new words with my grandchild. The artwork is lively and colorful. When we were finished singing, we went through each page slowly and talked about each animal in the story and what they were doing. It was wonderful! Thank you Neil!!

This book has become a new part of our morning ritual. It helps get the kids up and moving. They actually enjoy getting up now. You must use this book if you have a child who is reluctant to get up in the morning.

Sedaka re-works his big hit and there are two wonderful NEW Sedaka songs hidden on the enclosed CD Nov. 16 2011
By Steve Ramm - Published on
This 2010 book (with CD Enclosed) is a collaboration between singer/songwriter (and one-time teen music icon" Neil Sedaka and Illustrator Daniel Miyares. The song is a reworking of Sedaka's hit (with lyrics by Howard Greenfield) "Breaking up is hard to do", which charted TWICE in both 1962 and 1975! The illustrations show a young member of a family of crocodiles (living in what looks like 1950s suburbia) where all their neighbors are (literally) animals) .

The CD inserted in the back has a Sedaka recording of the title song, plus two other performances, recorded exclusively for this book. The first - "Lightnin' Jim" tells the story of a boy's imaginary fastest horse. (This song could be an illustrated book all by itself.). The second "Sing ", is another Sedaka original and is not to be confused with the hit by the Carpenters. Both of these - in a much slower tempo than "Waking up...." - will be a nice surprise for the parents who buy this book/CD for their young children.

I do wish that the publishers had included the lyrics to the 2 new Sedaka songs - somewhere in the back of the book - so that parents (as well as their children) could follow along.

This book one that children are sure to enjoy and maybe introduce them to Sedaka's five decades or more of recordings.

Great Way to get moving! Nov. 25 2011

Wonderful pictures. The CD makes the experience. Even those too young to remember Neil Sedaka will dance and sing to this.
