Walking With Collection Review,
By
This review is from: Walking With: The Complete Collection (DVD)
The BBC has done it again. They have created a spectacular view into the lives of some key species in these series. The stories are believeable and are backed up by scientific facts. Defineately recommend these series to any one who has an appreciation for palaeontology and prehistory. The effects are decent (considering they were done several years ago) and the animatronics are also fairly well done.

My 4 year old loves watching this so much I am now hearing Kenneth Brannagh's voice in my sleep! This is a truly amazing package of videos. The BBC definitely leads the way in dinosaur "edu-tainment", and National geographic is just starting to catch up. If you have kids into dinosaurs, these 5 dvds will keep them entertained on a drive from Halifax to Vancouver! Highly recommend. Chock full of dinosaurs eating each other, which seems to be a favourite for my guy...

Dinosaur Feast,

This review is from: Walking With: The Complete Collection (DVD)
I purchased this collection for my younger son as a birthday present recently. Previously we had viewed some of the episodes at a relative's and he and been fascinated by them. A year and a half ago we had also seen the Walking With Dinosaurs show in Calgary--and that was a real hook, because the animatronic models were fantastic--something that is carried over into the films. The series is full of colour and drama as viewers follow the life cycle of one type of dinosaur and all the others that it might have contact with. The narration is informative but not excessive, and the creatures lives play out without sparing the threat and potential violence--but the violence is not gratuitous. It's not at all "cutesy", but is very dramatic. My now 8 year old is able to spout dinosaur facts at me endlessly and is moved by the struggles of the ancient creatures, without being frightened. An excellent series for all ages.
