Anievas' Waltzes; Gavrilov's Études... Jan. 29 2009

Format: Audio CD Verified Purchase
.
Another extremely satisfactory remastered EMI 2-fer issue, includes Augustin Anievas' readings of the Waltzes and Impromptus paired with Andrei Gavrilov's essays of the Études.

At Juilliard Anievas was a pupil of the talented Eduard Steuermann--himself a protégé of Busoni, Humperdinck, and Schönberg.
Anievas' performances here are precious, pleasing, and precise.

Tchaikovsky Competition winner (1974), Muscovite virtuoso Gavrilov here delivers scintillating readings of Chopin's exacting Études.

How could anyone not love Chopin waltzes? Since I have the vinyl of Augustin Anievas playing the Chopin waltzes, i chose to stick with him because I know I love the way he plays them.
