4.0 out of 5 stars Very good read Jun 8 2010
By Chris J. Collins TOP 1000 REVIEWER
Format:Paperback
I have had the privilege of reading Mr. Christensen's books before this purchase. I jumped at the chance of a short story format that he compiled from a variety of authors. These authors are well known in their field and through personal training experiences; I have had the opportunity to know some of these authors personally. Mr. Christensen achieved his goal.

The book is a well-organized, structured learning medium. It gives personal views on what a law enforcement/warrior mindset should be with added guidance from individuals on how to better this mindset. The book lends itself to not wanting to be put down.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gripping and poignant Oct 28 2004
By L. A. Kane - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Thirty-seven real-life warriors tell what it's like to kill, to sacrifice, to train, to fear, and do what needs to be done. Christensen has collaborated with some of the greatest martial artists of all time to create this masterful book. Contributors include Lt. Col. Dave Grossman, Massad Ayoob, Gavin de Becker, Stephen Hayes, Hoch Hochheim, and many more... It is a fantastic read giving great insight into what we fight for and why. The story about how Rick Rescola died saving 2,700 people on 9/11 is particularly moving and highly memorable. I highly recommend this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent overview from a diverse group of warriors. Jun 16 2006

Warriors is an excellent book that delivers a diverse group of viewpoints on what it means to be a warrior.

The most interesting aspect of this book to me was the different perspectives provided by the contributors based on their life experiences. On one hand, you have police officers, soldiers and martial artists; and on the other hand, you have those who were victims at some point in their life and who currently work with victims. Although they all seem to agree that we live in a world with dangerous people and each person is ultimately responsible for their own safety, they do not all agree on how to deal with those dangerous people. The one common element seems to be that this group of warriors all have their head out of the sand and are clearly focused on the world around them.

Some of the articles are absolutely fantastic, and some are marginally OK. That should be expected when you pull together such a diverse group.

When something bad happens (i.e. gunfire or catastrophe) there are those who run toward it and those who run away. The people featured in this book are the ones who run toward danger. If you are trying to understand why, this is a great place to start.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loren Christensen's Work is a Victory For Us All Dec 5 2004
By Rocky Warren - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
You'll find my name and three stories within "Warriors-On Living With Courage, Discipline and Honor." (Pg 38-The Heroic Set of Shoulders, Pg. 168-Muses of A Warrior Trainer, and pg. 267-The Conditions of Combat.) I'm continually amazed at the breadth of martial, military and combat experience among the authors.

This is the most gritty, in-your-face account of warriors, their stories and their issues I've ever seen. From Tom Martin's gripping account of a disabled elderly man attracted to his Marine ring, to Melissa Soalt (aka:Dr. Ruthless) story "Fierce Love." If you want to know how and why warriors do what they do, and how they feel about it afterwards, you need look no further.

I'm having to buy ever more copies of "Warriors." My family and friends all want one, and I'm only too happy to oblige.

Thank you for all your hard work Loren. Through it, we all won.
