Watercolor for Dummies kept me painting.,
This review is from: Watercolor Painting For Dummies (Paperback)
This book Watercolor for Dummies was a God send for me. I had read a lot of other books from the library on this technique and that technique and had tried out most of them but while they all probably helped someone with a bit of experience they did not do much for me a complete novice and I was very discouraged with my attempts at following them. Then I found this book that outlines everything from step 1 in a clear concise manner that saved me from giving up. This book is wonderfully written and illustrated with dozens of explanatory photos and diagrams that shows everything a beginner needs to know . Even if you have never even heard of watercolor painting before if you follow step by step you will be turning out pretty decent paintings by the time you do all the exercises. This book is a steal for the price and is always within reach of my painting table. If you want to take up watercolor painting this is the book for you.

This review is from: Watercolor Painting For Dummies (Paperback)
I am a self taught artist and I am moving from acrylics to watercolors. I have about 23 books in my shelf on watercolor. However when I had a peep inside this book, I went for it. It is an amazing book!! Like all dummies books, this is written in simple language and intrigues you to the fascinating world of Watercolors walking you through it step by step. I just love it!!

don't be a dummy,
By Phil Morin "Visual Artist" (Canada) - See all my reviews

There are way better books on Watercolor out there .Check my listmania or other people's.try searching for: hillary page ,duane light, tony couch, robert wade, edgar whitney, john pike, jeanne dobie, zoltan szabo, frank webb, homer, john singer sargent. And I give that same advice to whoever approved the publication of this and the other "dummies" art series. It seems that the dummies books on drawing and painting all suffer from the same lack of quality of instruction and of bad examples .What were they thinking?
