This review is from: Wave (Paperback)
This is written by a grade eight student (Doug Fauteux):
The novel "Wave" is a great book. It's based on the 2004 Tsunamis in Thailand. It's about a family of four who vacations in Thailand during the tsunamis and how they try to survive. The family leaves the oldest kid behind because of university reasons, so really there are only three of them in Thailand. When the tsunamis hit the one who stays back (Beth) goes to Thailand. This story is told from two perspectives: Sam (the one who does go to Thailand with his parents) and Beth. The first eight chapters are told from Sam, and the rest are told from Beth. There are only 19 chapters so the book isn't too long. I really enjoyed this book because it kept me wanting to read and find out what happened next. As the story goes on further into the book, at the end of each chapter there is a twist or something happens that will make you keep on guessing. It is a very interesting book and the part I like best is that it's not a picture perfect fairytale ending. It's a realistic ending. This is some of Eric Walters's best work. I would recommend this book to people who enjoy fiction books that are realistic, keep you guessing and make you want to keep reading.
