We Are Not Alone boldly argues that extraterrestrial life is astrobiological fact. Far from existing light-years away in the outer reaches of space, it's on our very doorstep. For persuasive evidence of microbial life, we need look no further than our celestial neighbour, Mars. Expertly probing the latest scientific research, this fascinating book provides compelling reasons to believe that extraterrestrial life is rife both in the Solar System and beyond.

1.0 out of 5 stars Still Has Not Been Shipped Sept. 4 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I ordered this book June 24, 2013 and the date today is September 4, 2013. When I ordered the book, it was out of stock and told me that it would be between 2-4 months before it was back in. A couple weeks later it said between 2-4 weeks. I continued to wait patiently and noticed as the time when on it then said it would ship between 1-2 weeks, then 7-11 days, then 6-11 days, and now it says 5-6 days until it is shipped. It has said this for the last four weeks. I am beginning to doubt if this book is ever going to be sent, and after trying numerous different avenues, I have been unable to find a way to contact Amazon.ca in order to determine whether it is indeed ever going to be re-stocked. This type of delay is unacceptable, and the fact that I cannot even contact anyone compounds my dissatisfaction with this website even further.

5.0 out of 5 stars What if we have already found extraterrestrial life? March 17 2010
By Ventura Angelo - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This wonderful book gives you the state of the art in the search of extraterrestrial life in our solar system. From the controversial findings in martian meteorites, to the promising environment of Saturn's moon Titan, we learn that extraterrestrial life is possible on a variety of abodes. we have only to go and try to find them. And what this entails about the possibilities of life outside the Solar System? in the final chapters the Authors give some interesting speculations on this topic.
A book to read, highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars A groundbreaking gem March 16 2010
By Alberto G. Fairen - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This book is written incredibly well. I'm amazed at how Dirk can speak to a specialist and to the general public. The book is very cleverly written with just the right mix of hard science and fascinating and delightfully enjoyable reading. Dirk offers a plethora of information about the current state of the astrobiological quest, coming through with the scientific details but making them accessible to non-specialists. And this is so because Dirk is a top planetary scientist who also happens to be a gifted writer and communicator. Also, this is the very first book dealing with the issue of life in the Universe that seriously considers the possibility that we have already found life in other planets, and this awesome conclusion is based on a solid revisit of the scientific evidence gathered during the last decades of spatial exploration. I highly recommend this book to any person that is interested in the planetary exploration and the search for life elsewhere. This is an excellent book in every way imaginable.

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting Book Oct. 30 2010

If you are interested in the possibility of life beyond Earth, I recommend that you read this book. I am only half way through it. But it is exciting to know that there is strong evidence out there that suggests that there is life on other planets.

This book is OK but not in the same class as Paul Davies' new book "The Erie Silence".
