Book Description

When WEB OF HATE was first published in 1994, it caused a storm of controversy, receiving excellent reviews and reaching the number two position on THE GLOBE AND MAIL bestseller list.

In 1995, when the trade paper edition of the book was released, there was only one web site devoted to racial hatred. Now there are at least 3000 web sites all over the world-and no regulations governing their vitriolic content. Even more shocking, two of those web sites operate unfettered from Toronto.

Warren Kinsella has now updated his extraordinary insider's view of the Far Right in Canada to include an investigation of Internet hate groups and the ease with which they operate in our unregulated Internet environment. These are organizations whose previously marginal influence has exploded over the Internet, giving them a global voice and support. Kinsella makes a strong and convincing argument for Internet regulation, showing how groups like the Aryan Nations, the Ku Klux Klan and the Heritage Front are reaching out to students and even children on the Net.

Combining extensive first-person interviews with original investigative research, the updated edition of WEB OF HATE is an even more disturbing portrait of a movement that is spreading like a contagion throughout Canada and the world. The devastation it leaves in its wake will have a far-reaching impact on all of us. --This text refers to the Paperback edition.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Fair Overview of the Far Right in Canada, Oct 14 2002
This review is from: Web of hate: Inside Canada's far right network (Hardcover)
Web of Hate is the most detailed book dealing with the far right in Canada that I've read thus far. There are a number of areas of this movement that I was unaware of, such as the involvement of Canadian racists in "The Order" an ultra violent offshoot of the violent Aryan Nations that was responsible for the killing of WKOA radio personality Alan Berg and, at that time, the biggest armoured car robbery in American history. It also provides more detail in the cases of Carney Nerland and the Somalia affair (members of the elite Canadian Airborne Regiment were also members of Neo-nazi organizations).

Kinsella is, on occasion, a little sensationalistic and only deals with this phenomena superficially, but then again he is also trying to market this book to the general public, not academics. Still, this is an area that hasn't been really explored in Canada, so this book is a good starting point for those who wish to learn more about hate groups in the Great White North (pun not intended).

1.0 out of 5 stars Hilarious propaganda, Nov 14 2003

Yeah "Web of Hate" well watch out White canadians your a right wing hateful "extremist" if you actually can about your people-race-culture-nation and civilzation. Other than basically saying canadians can't do anything other than shut at whats going on to thier country and that whites should just lay down shut up and give up in these times of absolute poltics. If you want to know why stupid books like these are written read " the culture of critique".
