Product Description

From Booklist

After a Glamorgan lady stole another woman's lover more than a century ago, all succeeding Glamorgan women are cursed with spinsterhood. Even if the curse is nothing more than a myth, it is still powerful enough to keep any man in Wales from marrying a Glamorgan. So when Ariana Glamorgan hears that Roarke has arrived at her father's castle with the intention of finding a Welsh bride, she decides that she is the one this English knight is going to marry. Armed with a charm from her old nurse and in disguise, Ariana beguiles Roarke into proposing only to find herself trapped in a marriage that seems to be based on equal measures of deception and desire. After focusing on Roarke's half-brother, Lucian, in The Wedding Knight (2004) Rock, a RITA Award nominee, now gives Roarke a lady of his own as she deftly choreographs the delicate dance of seduction between her two protagonists into a richly sensual romance kissed with a bit of magic. 5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book about love and redemption, Sep 8 2009
By KSJ "KSJ" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: The Wedding Night (Mass Market Paperback)
Starting with the basics: I really enjoyed this book. It was a fast paced page turner that had me up most of the night. Great medieval story, with some nice historical additions added in-- like visiting knights from the crusades. Melissande Deverell and Lucien Barret were childhood friends, along with Lucian's younger brother Roarke. At the age of eight, Mel is taken away to live in a convent in France(she is the youngest sister, this was expected). Meanwhile, many things happen in the brother's lives that make Lucien indebted to Roarke. Lucien goes off to fight in the crusades, but returns when his brother requests that he "rescues" Melissande from the convent so he could marry her. Lucien accepts this dictate.

Lucien has a lot of self-contempt and anger for himself. He thinks himself unworthy of love and goodness. Basically, he believes all, including God, have abandonded him. Mel is devout, strong and has a few "issues" herself. Many things happen on the journey back to England that begin to heal Lucien and awaken Mel. It is a beautiful story that I do not want to give away. It is really about redemption, about a man forgiving himself in order to love.
