I had heard about this book and so I bought it when planning my wedding. It is even better than I anticipated-the authors are not only funny but they basically cover every single thing you might need to know about planning a wedding and any of the other parties associated with it. While it is not a "tacky" budget wedding-book ( and some of those I looked at were hilarious!) it does give good ideas on how/where to save money and still have an elegant wedding.
I can't recommend it highly enough!

I will say that there is a lot of information in this book. I will even go further and say it wasn't the worst of the terrible bridal books I recently ordered.

HOWEVER-- aside from learning some very dry ettiquette rules and such this book has little to offer. Sometimes it is written in a painfully pretentious manner.

Also-- if you want to keep your wedding on a budget don't bother with this book if you're looking to it for valid advice.

As far as wedding planning goes, this book is a decent compilation of customs and how-tos for a "typical", $20,000+ American wedding. The writing style can be extremely pretentious and perhaps offensive to brides with small budgets or who wish to have a truly unique ceremony. Buy a few bridal magazines and you'll get most of the information contained herein, and a lot less preaching on the MUST-DOs of nouveau riche etiquette. It doesn't contain much information on cultural weddings, ideas for very individualistic weddings. High brow brides will find it lacking in top rung etiquette and budget brides will likely give up after the first few chapters. There are much better resources out there - www.weddingchannel.com for starters.
