5.0 out of 5 stars The Groom isn't the Groom after all, Jan 24 2010
By

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Wedding of the year (Paperback)
Alexandra "Alex" Michaels is the Director of Catering for the prestigious Los Angeles Biltmore Hotel and part of her job is planning weddings that take place in the hotel. She is thirty-seven years old, has been celibate for the last fourteen months and has a mother who wants her to find a man post haste and marry him.

When snobbish and pushy Constance Bradford tells Alex that she wants the wedding of the year for her daughter Elizabeth, nicknamed "Muffy", Alex takes a look at the mousy girl and immediately feels sorry for her. Who wouldn't with a bloodless mother like that.

Sean Lawton, the supposed groom, is wealthy beyond anybody's wildest dreams. His best friend Phillip is desperately in love with Muffy, but Muffy's dear old mom doesn't think he's worthy, as he isn't wealthy enough and he won't go into the family business. So Phillip persuades Sean to pretend to be the groom, right up to the wedding. Then, just before they are supposed to say their respective "I do's", Phillip will step up and switch places with Sean.

Cupid shoots his bow and it strikes Alex just as she meets Sean, but how can she feel as she does, he's about to be married, after all. And what about Sean, all of a sudden he's got designs on the wedding planner, what's he going to do about that?

This story was divine. One of the best romance novels I've ever read and I've read plenty. "Wedding of the Year" has it all, humor, suspense, great characters, terrific writing, witty dialogue and so much more. Pick it up, give it a read, you won't be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Humorous and endearing, Jan 14 2002

All he asked of her was a promise...."all I want from you is a promise that you'll see me until the wedding and not go out with any other man." The problem was that he was the groom of this wedding and she was catering it.
This is a great book. I fell in love with the characters of this book. It is one surprise after the next and the grand finale of them all will have you amazed.
