5.0 out of 5 stars Detailed, but doable! July 2 2011

Wow! What a value for this E-book! It's jam-packed with information to complete not one, but four June weekend projects (or December in the southern hemisphere).

The step-by-step directions with all you need to know to set up an inexpensive red worm composting bin alone are worth the price of the whole issue!

The author includes many helpful photos, drawings, and diagrams which illustrate each step along the way - detailed, but simple enough to be doable.

I especially loved the "Survey Your Site" project. While I already do lay out my vegetable garden using graph paper, I hadn't previously thought about some of the broader homestead "mapping" concepts that Anna suggested.

I can't wait to read next month's issue!

5.0 out of 5 stars good down to "earth" advice May 19 2012

This is the third volume of the magazine that I have read and I love each one. I currently live in a small city in the Philippines and have a small piece of property not far outside the city. When I lived in Germany I often saw people enjoying their Kleingarten when I would walk in the countryside, these were small plots of land often around 200 or 300 square meters in size that people would use for gardening normally erecting small places to stay for a weekend of gardening. I recently decided to do something similar to my property. These guides have given me many good suggestions, in this volume the site map was especially helpful as I was starting one.

Proponents of the so-called Cave Man diet will tell you that pre-agricultural man subsisted primarily on fats and protein with very few carbs, and that hunter-gatherer societies past and present are generally more healthy than agricultural societies when access to modern medicine is included in our calculations. In practice, I discovered that simply boosting the protein in our diet to 20-25% made us feel much healthier. "e;
