Adherents of the authentic school may not totally appreciate a version of Bach's A Well-Tempered Clavier played on a Bösendorfer Piano. However, I find this approach easier on the ears over the long haul and enable one to appreciate this almost unsurpassed musical journey. For the authentic school, I don't think anyone can go wrong with Gustav Leonhardt's recordings on Harmonia Mundi. As for Gianluca Luisi's recording of Bach's milestone, there may be bigger names associated with this repertoire i.e. Gould, and especially Schiff, Luisi holds his own with a steady line and a transparency in the parts writing that brings the music making to life. This is a very good recording that will inspire repeated listening.
