5.0 out of 5 stars Off the beaten trail, but a must have! June 8 2014

I know he is not one of the big names, but I like his performance better than 5 others who are big names. The interpretation is refreshingly different, but conceivably similar to what Bach could do with a modern instrument. Even if you have several others, get this performance.

For those new to "classical" or Baroque music, this should be one of your first albums. The price is right, too, and sound quality is decent.
5.0 out of 5 stars A Bargain For An Excellent Recording Dec 14 2013

Grab this while you can from one of Amazon's sellers for $3.25 brand new. This is a great recording and incredible bargain at that price. Adherents of the authentic school may not totally appreciate a version of Bach's A Well-Tempered Clavier played on a Bösendorfer Piano. However, I find this approach easier on the ears over the long haul and enable one to appreciate this almost unsurpassed musical journey. For the authentic school, I don't think anyone can go wrong with Gustav Leonhardt's recordings on Harmonia Mundi. As for Gianluca Luisi's recording of Bach's milestone, there may be bigger names associated with this repertoire i.e. Gould, and especially Schiff, Luisi holds his own with a steady line and a transparency in the parts writing that brings the music making to life. This is a very good recording that will inspire repeated listening.
