Got it 2 weeks ago (JUNE 11/2012) but it's pretty new so it's a bit hard to review things like reliability. However, so far it is working perfectly (got it to replace a WD My Book 2TB that developed bad sectors in a month). No connection issues either (this seem to be a popular problem with the passport drives) I find that connectors in general, tend to degrade if there is too much "tension" at the ports. A good way to minimize this is by plugging the USB end first into the computer's port and then reposition the passport as needed so that the cord fits directly to it without any upwards/sideways tension.
Will continue to monitor the drive and report back updates.
I hope it doesn't melt - after all, it is an insanely high capacity drive. Either way, it's good to keep backups!
(July 10/2012) Exactly a month now and still working good. The drive is running very cool despite being used for long periods of time. Still keeping regular backups of the drive however... S.M.A.R.T. reports "Good". Only concern is that load/unload cycles like many other WD laptop drives are increasing quite fast.
(june 5/2013) Still working like a champ. Got USB 3.0 now so getting about 80-110 MB/s on the read, a little slower on the write
(june1/2014) 2 years in and still 100%. One little thing though.. if your USB 3.0 port doesn't provide enough power, transfer speeds will degrade a bit.
The only other problem I have is that I can't transfer files from it onto a windows computer but I'm fairly certain that's due to me not reformatting it properly.
Regardless, I'm extremely happy with it.
It also looks like it'll fit my entire movie collection with space to spare which is awesome - I was hoping to keep them all in one place.
I will buy another just like this, if ever I still need one in the future.
I have been using WD portable hard drive. I never had any problem with the 2 that I have, which is why I opted to buy another WD hard drive.

Decent product but after 2 years the plug on unit is wobbly and have to jiggle to get it to read on any computer.Published 14 days ago by P. Calitri
I use this as a back-up drive for my mac on a daily basis and it works great.Published 23 days ago by dragon88
I hate it! It's slow, it doesn't show up on Finder, it's noisy, it's made of cheap ass plastic, it's ugly, and it's wasting my time. Read morePublished 9 months ago by Max
My favourite portable hard drive. Works good with Live TV media player. I have several and my friends do too. Only saw one fail after it was dropped.Published 11 months ago by Richard Mathieu
