This review is from: What Color Is Your Parachute? Job-Hunter's Workbook (Paperback)
I was a bit skeptical at first with this book. Of course it is probably the most famous career/job book ever written, but I was concerned that it would go into detail on things I did not really care about - like determining what you want to do as a career...things I already knew. But I found the book very well-written and insightful for anyone looking for a job, trying to discover their career path, or considering making a career transition later in life.

The author has included a number of decision-making tools that really help sort through complex priorities, and his philosophy on job searching is very consistent with my own experience as a seasoned job search expert.

I guess the reason I like the book so much is I believe we are entering an era where traditional employment expectations are going out the window. People need to be creative in determining how they will earn a living. And finding something that you like to do as well.

I just turned 60, and still very much enjoy what I do, but am looking to a future where I would be considered "unemployable" based on my age. For me this means an internet-oriented business, that I can do anywhere, anytime. This business will be helping people find jobs in this economy. I'm the Job Hunting Insider.

...a journey of self discovery for the uninitiated or those facing a game change.

A VERY useful reference which deserves a spot on anyone's bookshelf - from the new job hunter, be it school leaver, new graduate or those seeking a career change in midlife. There is even one edition specifically written for retirees.

It quickly becomes apparent that this book is written by one who has walked the trail, mastered it, understanding and preempting every curve and offering really useful advice that only a veteran can, infusing his readers with hope and a plethora of workable ideas. A really useful chart for the challenging times ahead. Know thyself and find/ create thy niche.
