Book Description

Wouldn't it be great if you could climb into bed, snuggle under your covers, and fall asleep without any fuss or fear? Without listening for noises or thinking about bad guys? Without an extra drink, or an extra hug, or an extra trip to the bathroom? Bedtime is tough for many kids. If you're a kid who dreads your bed, and are convinced that nothing short of magic will make nighttime easier, this book is for you.

What to Do When You Dread Your Bed guides children and their parents through the cognitive-behavioral techniques used to treat problems with sleep. Fears, busy brains, restless bodies, and overdependence on parents are all tackled as children gain the skills they need for more peaceful nights. This interactive self-help book is the complete resource for educating, motivating, and empowering children to fall asleep and stay asleep--like magic!

5.0 out of 5 stars This book was a great help! Sep 18 2009
Format:Paperback
This book started to help right from the beginning. It comes with magic tricks, which son looked forward to everyday we worked through the book. The tricks tie in with the step to get to bed for that day. Wonderful, wonderful book. Very easy to get your child to cooperate. As we read through it, it got my son really talking about the problems he was having with sleep time. It was nice to see the relief in his face as I was reading and he would exclaim, "That's just like me!" Highly, highly recommended.

3.0 out of 5 stars Written for older kids Dec 7 2009
Format:Paperback
I was hoping to use this for my four year old, but it is really designed for grade schoolers who can read and work through this themselves. I'll stash it for a couple of years. Hopefully I won't still need it by then...

4.0 out of 5 stars Some good ideas to try Jun 30 2011
Format:Paperback
This book is for an older child of say 8 and up. My child is 10 and he really liked doing the magic tricks the book had in each chapter. They give good ideas for routine. Initially it makes bedtime longer but you have to adapt it to your lifestyle. It was a decent workbook.
