the best thing i've heard in years,
By me "me" (near glasgow) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not (Audio CD)
ok, i am only 18 but this is still one of the best albums i've heard. there is not a bad song in this album. I am scottish and the arctic monkeys have taken the entire uk by storm with 2 no.1's 'i bet that you look good on the dancefloor' and 'when the sun goes down'. they've been around for a short while getting a gathering of fans via downloads but now there HUGE.That are also one of the best live acts with tickets selling for up to £200($350+). this album is incredible my favourit songs include -'view for the afternoon' 'fake tales on san fransico' 'dancin' shoes' 'mardy bum' and the very soon to be legendary 'a certain romance'. get this album and prepare for the Arctic Monkeys invasion...

I think this is a great album, even though it may take a couple of listens to fully appreciate the band. I count this album among some of the best ever made!

Hot Hot Heat, Futureheads, Arctic Monkeys,

After way too many listens to this record, it's in my "to sell" pile. I find the music so uninteresting, and without edge, that I can't even begin to appreciate the apparently morrissey-esque lyrics. As a fan of "post-punk" music in general (the original and neo) - I like this about as much as the Futureheads and Hot Hot Heat - all of which had ridiculous hype on their side (ie: not very much). It ain't no Franz Ferdinand, which to my surprise, did live up to the hype. If time is money, I'd spend it listening to the Rakes (Capture/Release) or Editors (The Back Room) instead. I knew nothing about either band before getting the cds, but was very surprised by how good they were. The Rakes are moderately Hives-ish, while the Editors are Doves/Interpol-ish.
