5.0 out of 5 stars travis loves it, Jan 22 2003

This review is from: When Jayne Met Erik (Paperback)
This is such a cool book we threw it around in the rain and it got wet but it didn't fall apart until we threw it in the trash can because they made us. it makes a great song, and is good to read if you lead a boring pathetic life. It is so stupid it is funny and makes us laugh, this book is one big fat joke. Stupid joke that is. But it's so great! 'We are looking for a copy, if you find one please let us know! Why is it out of print? That stupid! We left one at the library -- but now it is gone! Oh no, who took it? We want it back! Read this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Improbable dreams come to life - highly recommended, Sep 11 2001
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: When Jayne Met Erik (Paperback)
Instead of exploring personal experiences with wondrous erotic activities, Jayne finds herself alone following the death of her parents and raising twin siblings for four years. Now that the twins are off to Indiana University, she's landed a new job at a jewelry store and moved into a two-bedroom apartment. To bad that on her really awful, no good day, Jayne learns the jewelry shop may fall victim to hostile takeover. So much for the twin's tuition money. A bit hostile herself as she vents to a coworker, Jayne doesn't expect her words to be overheard by a Prince Charming.

Erik Randolf might look like Prince Charming, but he's really a wolf, preferring a playboy lifestyle to work or responsibility. But then, he can afford it. Too bad his thirtieth birthday is only two weeks away, and the only way he inherits his third of the multimillionaire dollar estate is if he's indulging in wedded bless. As he slogs through the rain proposing to women that seem appropriate, to him at least, he's surprised when the first three turn him down. But then, he needs an engagement ring anyway, when he at last finds a blushing bride, so he heads to his favorite jewelry store. Kismet, karma, destiny, fate, something at least, is at work. Serendipitously overhearing a conversation about the need to marry a millionaire, Erik proposes on the spot. Yep, she thinks he's crazy; but a charming, sexy kind of crazy rather than a homicidal maniacal kind of crazy. Somewhere along the way, Jayne also accepts, agreeing to a year long marriage of convenience. But there's nothing convenient about this marriage, especially their mutual attraction.

Like a modern day fairy tale, WHEN JAYNE MET ERIK brings improbable dreams to life. While billionaires don't usually shop for wives while picking up an engagement ring at the local shop, the premise is enchanting. Brought to life with Elizabeth Bevarly's talented pen, the result is delightful. The author's tone maintains a fresh originality remaining at once profoundly ridiculous, yet imminently entertaining. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars I enjoyed it!!!, Sep 17 2001
By Elizabeth Benway - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: When Jayne Met Erik (Paperback)

Jayne Pembroke is having the worse day of her life so her land lady gives her a special brooch to wear to bring her good luck. She is a sales person at Colette Inc which is a very prestigious jewelry store & is totally amazed when Youngsville most eligible bachelor proposes to her over the counter.

Erik Randolph must marry by his thirty birthday to inherit his portion of his grandfather's estate. And he only has fourteen days to find a suitable woman to meet his expectations. But when he sees Jayne, his predetermined qualifications are forgotten. He wants her!

This is book one in a new mini series called 20 Amber Court. It is about four young women that live in the same apartment complex & work in the same company. I love romance stories told in a continuing saga like this & I really enjoyed the first story. It was refreshing & exciting with enjoyable characters....a great launch to this new series. I definitely look forward to the other stories!

1.0 out of 5 stars Waste of reading time, recycle paper source, Dec 11 2001
By C. Mcdonald - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: When Jayne Met Erik (Paperback)
A shallow, unlikely story about two shallow, unlikeable people.

Shiftless, unemployed-and-likes-it-like-that, son-of-millionaire playboy, who likes society-aware brown-eyed blondes, for some reason is unable (or just plain too lazy) to find a bride within his own acquaintance (which are supposed to be transcontinental), proposes marriage to a shop girl in 21st Century USA. She accepts, falls in love, leaves because she thinks he doesn't love her. He realizes he does and chases after. They live happily ever after. Cover picture says it all and should have warned me! He is wearing a pinky ring for Christ's sake! Tried to rate it zero but system wouldn't let me.
