4.0 out of 5 stars An entertaining read about people with character, Sep 6 2010

This review is from: Where the Deer and the Antelope Play (Paperback)
I read the first and second book in the series and got hooked by the characters. Tap and Pepper are real people, who are hard not to like. The book has a lot of humor in it and plenty of action. In his first book, he let the action evolve more, which was a bit more satisfying. However this book was well written and most of all made you care about Pepper and Tap. I like how they grow and develop as people. It is rewarding to read a book that has characters with character. You might say the book was a blessing.

One in the Code of the West series. Tapadera Andrews has a mortgaged ranch, some cattle, and a fiance which is not bad for a man a year away from Yuma prison. Pepper Paige, soon to marry this reformed shootist, is herself a former dance-hall girl. Both long for the normal life of average people, but life has a way of barging in on people who desire the quiet life. Tap is always rescuing someone or something and usually getting shot in the process but Tap is a good guy, honest and hard-working, not a drinker, and not a gambler. Those are not bad attributes. To make a long story short, Tap gets the bad guys, loses the ranch to a fraudulent scheme, but he marries Pepper. Look for further adventures.
