Review

"World traveler. American icon....Learning tool? Where's Waldo going to stop?" — Sacramento Bee

About the Author

MARTIN HANDFORD, the man behind the mind-boggling Waldo books, began his career as a freelance illustrator specializing in drawing crowd scenes. The turning point came when he was asked to create a book showcasing his impressive talent, and the character Waldo was born — originally to provide a link between each scene. "I can’t tell you how pleased I am that Waldo has taken on a life of his own," Martin Handford says. "I’d like to inspire children to open their minds to explore subjects more, to be aware of what’s going on around them. I’d like them to see wonder in places that may not have occurred to them." Martin Handford lives in England.

A disappointing end to the Waldo series May 11 2009
By TurtleTurtleTurtle - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
Breaking with the typical Waldo presentation, this books consists of half-page scenes with an activity list opposite. Too much direction has reduced many scenes from enjoyment to tediousness. In addition, the scenes are not as imaginative as in previous books. Keep to the earlier entries in the series.

Great Picture Hunt is Great Fun Oct. 5 2010
By Melissa A. Simmons - Published on Amazon.com

My seven-year-old son loves this book. He is ADHD and has trouble distinguishing small items in a larger setting, but this book captivates him and he pours over the pages, with triumphant exclamations each time he finds Waldo or one of the other things he is searching for. With help from Waldo he is lengthening his attention span and refining his attention to detail.
