White Satin - a good read from Iris Johansen,

I have read almost all of Iris Johansen's romances from the now defunct Loveswept Line. And I loved them all; the emotion, the drama, its a fun time to sit down and read one of her novels. This was not her best of the line, but it was quite nice. The attraction between the hero and heroine was a little weird, because she kept having back-flashes to when she was eight and he was twenty. But back in the eighties a good ten to twelve year difference in the hero/heroine's ages was the norm. I liked the fact that the hero wanted to make certain that the heroine could stand on her own, before he tried to "woo" her as it were. I thought the heroine was a little obsessed with the hero, but after all it was a romance. All, in all, a nice read. I bought it second-hand for $4.00 and I would definitely buy it again, I wouldn't pay much more for the book.

Iris Johansen is a name I'm usually confident about when buying books, but this was a really strange one. The only word that comes to mind is "disturbing."If the heroine hadn't been in love with the hero, the story had the potential to become one of those stalker/victim novels. And was the heroine really in love with the hero? She doesn't seem to have had much of a social life. Definitely not a book I'd recommend to first-time Johansen readers. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful

I have never read a book by this author before and was very hopeful after I read the description, but I could only get through the first 43 pages then quite. It was very disturbing to me and a bit creepy that the man who had been her guardian since she was a young girl was now trying to get her into bed. Plus the way he talked to her was like she was a child and not a grown woman. I love a good sexual story, but none of the sexy scenes sounded very sexy. I would really not recommend this book to anyone.
