Well, I think I bought this CD for the same reason everyone else bought it: for 'I'm Like A Bird' and 'Turn Off the Light'. At the time the second single came out (circa fall 2001), I really enjoyed both of them and considered buying her album. Then Nelly disappeared for a while and I almost forgot about her. This past year for my birthday I ended up getting 'Whoa, Nelly!' as a gift. At first I actually enjoyed the cd. I played it for about two weeks but then that was it. It ended up in the dusty part of my CD collection. About a month ago I heard her new single 'Powerless' off her new album 'Folklore'. I thought about buying her new album but then decided I should maybe listen to her old one first. Wow. This album in the most polite way... reeks. I mean, I still like the song 'I'm Like A Bird'. It's the only decent song on here. That and 'Well, Well'. But I can't stand the rest of the cd. Not even 'Turn Off The Light'. Listening to this gives me a headache. People may think she's unique for mixing an unusual combination of latin sounds, hip hop, folk, r&b, and pop. But it's like pouring these sounds into a blender. What you get will not taste too good. Sorry Nelly fans. But this one is for the used CD bin.
