Product Description

G'day from the Australia Zoo, where the Wiggles get wild with Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin. It's a Wiggly Safari: 55 jaw-snappin', kookaburra-hootin', dolphin-splashin' minutes of grand adventure. A big ham himself, Irwin meshes naturally with the tuneful quartet as they sing, dance, and share factual tidbits about cockatoos, crocodiles, emus, and more. Colors pop off the screen as Dorothy, Captain Feathersword, and little dancers cavort through the zoo. Packed with 16 snappy tunes, this particular Wiggles collection revs up the tempo from earlier titles like Wiggle Time and Toot! Toot! Could this lush outdoor setting, where songs like "Dingo Tango" and "Cocky Want a Cracker" sizzle in the sunshine, be responsible for inspiring this ultra-imaginative play list? Or perhaps Irwin's invigorating presence stimulated the fresh, lively feel of this exceptional show. Regardless, Wiggles fans from ages 1 to 8 will surely delight in this musical tour of the Australia Zoo. --Liane Thomas

Well, I think we have just about all of the Wiggle's videos and this one is just so very cute. The DVD has an interview with them and Steve Irwin at the end and it really added to the video. If you're expecting the same studio version, this isn't it. The only disappointment was that they didn't use a live emu and I really wanted to see one! Captain Feathersword is as goofy as ever, the man is so incredibly talented he should win some sort of award! It's hysterical watching the scene with him in the bathtub. These guys have every man's dream job - getting paid a whole lot to act like nuts but hey, it's wonderful what they're doing and the educational value is outstanding. I've learned more about other cultures since we've been watching the Wiggles than I've ever known before. Don't hesitate on this one - the "Snakes, you'd better not touch" song is worth the price of the DVD by itself. Golly, is that funny! Greg even gives us a couple of Elvis moves! Pretty good and very entertaining to toddlers. These guys put out a bunch of stuff and spend a ton of time away from their families to do it - to educate kids and they deserve all the credit and accolades that they've been receiving. At least with them, you don't have to worry about screening the video before you put it in. You don't have to worry about the pirate, even being in a wetsuit, ever seeing something that you shouldn't. They think of everything and for that I'm greatly appreciative. Now, too bad they can't take over the Thomas the Train series so that THEY'RE watchable!

I have TWO TODDLERS and this video combines two of their favorite things-- the Wiggles and lots of gorgeous pictures of animals-- so of course Wiggly Safari is a huge hit at our house. My 2 1/2 year old just loves the Koala La La song and would watch it endlessly all day long if I would let her.
But since I also have to sit through repeated showings of what my girls are watching, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that this video is much more palatable for the adult ear than the Wiggles TV show (if I have to hear Fruit Salad one more time, I think I will lose my mind!). These songs seem less mindless repitition, the guys less silly, the dances more "real" choreography. I actually enjoy watching this with my girls.
And the Wiggles ought to work together with Steve Irwin more often, since their on-camera styles match so perfectly. I always thought Steve acted more like a comical character from a silly kid's book than a real person. In this Wiggles video, his over-the-top eyes-a-popping enthusiasm actually works with his material instead of against it. The interview with all the guys was a nice addition for me since it enabled me to see that at least Steve, Anthony and Murray are just normal guys when they are not performing. Do Greg and Jeff ever talk without a script?
Anyway, we loved going on this Wiggly Safari, and we'll definitely buy more Wiggles videos now that we have seen this one.
By the way, the absolute best part of this video is seeing the look of pure joy in the eyes of Steve's little girl Bindy when she gets to interact with her heroes, the Wiggles. She looks like she is having so much fun, and you know that cannot be faked in a child so young. Seeing the action reflected in her eyes makes me want to take my daughters to a Wiggles concert ASAP! You are beautiful, Bindy!

At first, I wasn't sure how my 21-month-old daughter would like this DVD, as it's quite a bit different from the Wiggles' television show. However, she loves it! It holds her attention even better than the TV show, and she sits as if in a trance when it's on. This video is set outdoors, at the Australian Zoo, and features the Wiggles and the Steve Irwin family interacting with various animals. The songs are probably the best of any of their videos-I find myself humming them alot! Also featured are the four dancers (two men and two women) that appear in most of the Wiggles Dvds-they're such a pleasure to watch, and genuinely seem to be having fun.
We originally bought this on DVD, but Chloe loves it so much that we also bought it on VHS for her to watch at Grandma's house. It's a great way for Grandma to keep her busy and entertained for a bit while taking care of the other kids! And the songs are such a hit that we've also been obliged to purchase the CD, for in the car, and it's played nonstop from Boise to Disneyland to Washington, several times over!
Overall, I highly recommend this DVD! It's enjoyable for my daughter, and I enjoy it too!

For someone who is an avid reader, my life changed dramatically sixteen months ago at the birth of my first grandchild. Instead of reviewing some terrific book, I find myself reviewing my first children's video. Grandma got introduced to the Wiggles last month. I find myself compulsively looking for Wiggles videos we don't own. Why is this a new passion? Simple answer is my grandchild adores them.
The Wiggles - Wiggly Safari is the latest one we have added to the collection and probably my favorite. It features Big Steve Irwin, the crocodile hunter whom I have seen on TV and think is hilarious. There are songs, dances, and animals galore. The scenery is bright and there is some action going on constantly. Along with the boys from Australia, come the sidekicks such as Dorothy, Wags, Henry, and my favorite Captain Feathersword. This is a cute video. My only complaint is I find myself humming some of the songs, which is damaging to my reputation as a tough high school teacher!
It maybe not be as educational as Sesame Street (which my grandson refuses to watch) but it is just as entertaining. For something to entertain the little ones and give parents and grandparents a much-deserved break, you can't go wrong with this video.
