Wii Fit attracted millions of new players to the world of video games. Now Wii Fit Plus offers a range of new features and enhancements to help players reinvigorate their workouts, along with exercises and balance games designed to keep them fun. Players will find a new dimension to the Wii Fit experience as they easily set their own customized workout routines, or choose 20-, 30- or 40-minute workouts based on how much time they have available.
As with the original Wii Fit release, Wii Fit Plus is designed, as its name implies, to improve the user's fitness. The game contains a large number of activities that fall into a variety of categories, including: yoga, aerobics, strength training and balance games. With all but a few exceptions, which utilize variations on a standard Wii Remote configuration, all activities utilize the Wii Balance Board (not included, but available with the Wii Fit Plus Balance Board Bundle), either alone or configured with either a Wii Remote alone or the Wii Remote and nunchuck. The Balance Board, like any other Wii controller acts as a motion/pressure sensing device wirelessly synched to your Wii and replicating your body's movements. Each controller employed occupies one of the Wii's four wireless inputs, together mapping the reference points needed to recreate most full body motions on screen. Although this limits the majority of the activities to a single player orientation, various activities throughout the game support up to eight players in alternating play. To use Wii Fit Plus players import their Miis from their Wii system, set up profiles, establish a current physical baseline, set fitness goals, and embark on a routine to reach them. Wii Fit Plus tracks your usage, weight and progress towards your goal over time, giving you a status report as you start each session. At any time players can choose whatever activity they want, whether exercise or balance game, and as they progress in these they will level up in each, gaining points, setting high scores and unlocking more activities. Personalization Option Via 'The Locker Room' The original Wii Fit was designed to have something for everyone. Now Wii Fit Plus raises the bar by providing users with personalization options that allow them to find/create a specific workout routine that is exactly right for them, their family and their lifestyle. One example of this is "The Locker Room." Easily accessible throughout the game, here players can choose from a number customizable options that allow them to maximize their time with Wii Fit Plus without having to navigate through the game menu while in the middle of a workout. In essence this allows players to become their own personal trainer. Customization options available within The Locker Room include: preprogrammed and timed Wii Fit Plus Routines; My Routine, where you choose your own set of activities, optimizing their length and area of the body to be focused on; and Favorites, a notation of activities you frequent, which provides fast access to exercises you enjoy doing the most. Addition Yoga and Strength Exercises Designed as an addition to the already substantial list of focused, physical exercises available in Wii Fit, Wii Fit Plus contains six new and challenging strength and yoga activities. But continuing with the game's commitment to personalization, the key to these additions is not in their volume, but in how the player chooses to mix and match them. Do them in the order they are presented, or combine them in whatever order you want. The choice is yours. The player even has the ability to repeat the ones that he/she prefers, maximizing attention and effort where it is needed most. In addition, for those to whom time is a commodity, you can now omit unnecessary interludes between exercises, making for a continuous, timesaving routine. A Wealth of New Balance Games Regardless of the considerable fitness factor packed into Wii Fit Plus, the Nintendo brand is and will always be all about having fun. With that in mind Wii Fit Plus also comes packed with 15 new, entertaining balance games suitable for every member of the family. Just a few of those that players can expect to see are: Juggling; Skateboarding; Snowball Fight; Obstacle Course, a log-leaping, cannonball-evading event reminiscent of what Nintendo icon Mario must go through; and Perfect 10, a balance game designed to promote a combination of physical and mental health. In this final example the player's Mii is situated between multiple color-coated balls, each showing specific numbers, with the goal to swing your hips, hula style, in different directions to tap out a total of ten as many times as possible before time runs out. This review is from: Wii Fit Plus - Software Only (Video Game)
I have been playing Wii Fit on and off for several months, and I have been playing Wii Fit Plus every day for the last two weeks. Here are my observations on this new version of the Wii Fit software.New Activities: Wii Fit Plus comes with 15 new balance games and they definitely improve my motivation to spend more time playing Wii Fit. My daughter and I are having a lot of fun playing the kung fu, juggling and snowball fight games (individually; no multiplayer games). However, all the new games are hardly physical. At best they will improve your balance in the long run, but they will not make you sweat and will not provide any physical challenge. If you like Wii Fit for the fitness exercises, then Wii Fit Plus will not have much more to offer to you (only three new strength activities and thee new yoga positions; nothing new for the aerobic activities). Workout Routines: I must admit that I was very disappointed with the new workout routine features. My first thought was: "This is great! I will create a routine for each day of the week!". But it did not turned out at all as I expected. At first I started playing the pre-made routines to see how it works. What I did not like up front with this new feature is that the game will not record your results in the activities that are performed through a workout routine (I like my results to be recorded when I beat my high score!). Another draw back is that you cannot increase the difficulty level of the activities in the pre-made routines. I then tried to create my own routine to work around these weaknesses, but then I found out that you are only allowed to choose strength activities and yoga positions in your custom routine, and again you cannot customize their level of difficulty. I do not know why they do not allow you to include balance games and aerobic activities (there are such activities in the pre-made routines!); this clearly is a major design weakness. And then the worst thing is that you can only create one custom routine! I have stop using the new routine features only after two days due to these customizing restrictions. All and all, the new games are fun to play, but there is no significant improvement to the "fitness" aspect of this game. I give Wii Fit Plus three stars for the new balance games and the reasonable price. Comments added on Nov. 09/2009: My review and evaluation above reflects my impression of Wii Fit Plus as an existing owner of Wii Fit with the balance board. Hence I have strictly evaluated the improvements, not the game as a whole.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my Wii Fit Plus.Even though this game still needs improvement I would say it's the best workout Wii game currently available. What I love about Wii Fitness Plus + The graphics are sharp and crisp. + The exercises are highly enjoyable and are a challenge at the same time. + The exercises make you feel like you are really biking, flying, etc. + I can see my weight fluctuation and therefore keep tabs on correcting my mistakes (like overeating or under exercising). + I have lost 10 pounds in 6 weeks and I'm still going strong. + You can add pets. Even if you don't have any, you can still add fake pets like we did! :) + You can do a no interruption Yoga and Strength training routine that actually improves your ability. I guess it's because disruptions or confidence boosters or deflaters (like scoring) can defocus some people, like myself. + You can now track your waistline and steps done. What I don't love - Customization only allows for Yoga and Strength training and you can not see or save scores. This must be to reduce time in between exercises so it will be great if they find a way to reduce the "wait" time between exercises without skipping the "all important" scores. :) - Not all the Training Plus are balance games. For example, there is Biking and Martial Arts. The other commenter said she didn't sweat but we don't find that to be the case. Perhaps it's how she's working out or perhaps her level of fitness is quite high. For the average person (who are doing the exercises correctly and keep moving between exercises), I think you are going to sweat. - Wii age seems meaningless. Perhaps "levels" or a bell curve is a better way to figure it out. I'm late 30's and I'm always ranking low 20's but Wii Fit would have you think I'm in perfect fitness when I'm not! - The juggling "nunchuck" seems to not work so well with the "flicking motion" but that could be my nunchuck! - I know I'm fat but I'm losing weight. Could you be a bit more positive about my BMI status especially when I'm losing weight and the BMI is going down? :) If nothing else, it's developing a thick skin in me when I get to hear everyday for months that I'm fat but I keep going at the program. lol Heh, in that way it's like boot camp! - The various "mini" workout routines designed by Wii Fit are not always right for what they say it will accomplish though many are. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE THESE ADDITIONS TO THE NEXT RELEASE + How much weight lost or gained since starting the game or "program". + The ability to customize a workout which includes "all" the exercises (balance, aerobic, etc.) + A warm up and cool down feature. Currently I use the Yoga, Strength, and Balance exercises for that and have the aerobics as the meat of the workout. + Keep tabs on how much time is spent doing aerobics, balance exercises, etc. while working out. + Update the Training Plus to pick out the aerobics (the biking and running are definitely NOT balance games, for example!!) from the balance games for the Fitness Credits. I also run very fast in the "obstacle course" so it is actually the harder aerobic workout for me in the game. + New Aerobics and Balance Games + Swimming + Mini golf + Rock climbing + Hand gliding + Skating There's a lot more little things for you to discover in this game or fitness fun program. For the price, the extra goodies are worth it. If you love Wii Fit, you will love Wii Fit Plus even more!!! And if you hate exercise but love games, you are going to LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Wii Fit. And if you love exercising but you didn't think you loved games, you are going to LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Wii Fit. It's really for everyone!!! And I can't wait for the next edition with more exercises.

Games are a lot of fun and there is enough variety that I don't get bored. I like the tracking features for weight and BMI and I really like the goal. Somehow having it recorded somewhere makes me a bit more accountable. I don't really understand the Wii Fit Age as some days I'm 54 and others I'm 26. It seems to depend on which body test I end up doing. My only critcisms are that I wish there was a way to put together a customized routine with more than just yoga and strength exercises. I would also like to see some longer aerobic exercises as most are quite short.
