Cats in Danger,

Loving cats of all shapes and sizes, buying this book was an absolute must for me. Little did I know that the storylines are actually connected and how right up to the end of story number two. Intriguing!Golden Eyes introduces the reader to a local boy sheriff with a true connection to his small town in Colorado who is suddenly inundated with sightings of African wildcats and sounds of shootings. He soon comes across an injured cheetah with a big secret and upon its discovery ends up not only trying to protect his mate from being found out but also from the wildlife poachers. And there is the issue of her having been abducted in Africa with her parents in Alaska not knowing what happened to her ... ... or her sister Kaya who disappeared when she was only very little. She ends up in the mountains of Colorado and is drawn to a cabin occupied by two men who disappear here and there for two weeks but always return. First she approaches them in cougar form with a badly injured paw but is then caught in the kitchen dresses in only a flannel shirt eating her first meal in human form for years. I was quite taken by the way Maya Banks put it all together and interweaved both stories but I was also taken by her imagination that those shapeshifters are not genetically born with their abilities but are gifted with animals that match their personalities on a spiritual basis. The only negative comment to be made is the swearing although it is somewhat limited to the characters. Other than that two very intriguingly spun tales dealing with very human issues apart from being thoroughly enjoyable to read - a book I had a tough time putting down.

Two books in one.I don't even know which one I like more. Both heroines were so different and yet so likeable in their own ways. Kaya is sweeter and more shy, while Aliyah is more assertive and has a stronger personality. THE STORIES Aliyah is a cheetah who was captured in Africa and transported to the US along with other big cats so that wealthy men can pretend they are on safari and hunt them down. She is shot in the hip with a bow and is rescued by hunky Duncan. Kaya is a cougar who is cold and lonely and who over the years befriends Hunter and Jericho who own a cabin up in the mountain. Her desire to form a connection with someone allows her to reveal herself to them and their romance blooms from there. As it turns out Aliyah and Kaya are sisters, and Kaya's family believed she died when they were children. The reunion was very touching and example of Ms Banks fine writing abilities. I only wish that we could have gotten another book or at least an epilogue to give us an update of the birth and family interaction after the reunion. MY TAKE A thoroughly enjoyable romantic fantasy and a worthwhile read. 9 of 11 people found the following review helpful

This book is actually two books combined; Amber Eyes & Golden Eyes. It is about two sisters from an unusual family. It was fast paced and entertaining. I was sorry when it ended because I wanted more! The author is a very good storyteller. I look forward to finding & reading more of her books.

This book has two great stories Alysha has been stuck in her cougar form for quite some time and when she is taken out on a hunt in a rural mountain side she finds Duncan. Duncan can't believe what he has found when the cougar turns into a beautiful woman. This is a great story of love and learning to except another's differences no matter how different they may be. In the story of Kaya she meets two men who are hiding from the pain of a lost love and aren't looking for anything new. When Kaya meets them she is as a wounded mountain lion but the men soon fall for not only the cat but the woman as well. They have their ups and downs with each side having trouble letting go of the past and learning to hold onto love but what comes out is stronger than ever.
