5.0 out of 5 stars Gripping action!!, Aug 25 2009

This review is from: Wilderness 61 The Scalp Hunters (Mass Market Paperback)
For fans of the WILDERNESS series this is yet another excellent entry into the WILDERNESS series. This novel features the mountain man, Nate King's youngest, Evelyn and the sole surviving family of the Forest Tribe who have settled in King's Valley.

What starts out as an idyllic hunt for buffalo and the budding romance of young love, turns into terror on the plains. The hunters become the hunted by a group of the vilest of vile 'scalp hunters'. Unfortunately, for those in this adventure, the Grizzly Killer and his half breed son Zach are nowhere to be seen.

Can Evelyn King and the most peace loving remaining members of the Nansusequa tribe be able to survive when they must fight for their very lives?

High adventure, romance and bucked out in gore...fine, fast paced writing by author David Thompson!

Wilderness #61- The Scalp Hunters By David Thompson - Genre: Western

This great Western series continues with another excellent book, Evelyn King along with the Nansusequa Indians who also live in the valley the King family inhabit are on a buffalo hunt but what starts as a harmless hunt turns into a deadly game of cat and mouse with a deadly bunch of Scalp Hunters whom are after their hair! - What follows is an exciting and tense tale as events unfold. As always there is bags of action in the plot, loads of amazing character's with truly dreadful and evil bad guys headed by a man called Venom. Evelyn King finds out a lot about herself in this tale as she realizes she is not as strong as other members of her family when it comes to the deadly dangers in the Wilderness, the book also sees the first blossom of new love. What really surprised me in this book was the ending that was shocking as well as extremely exciting. I look forward to the next book in the series eagerly.

The Scalp Hunters is yet another gripping account from the diaries of Nate King. This time, Evelyn and a neighbouring tribe of Nansuseaua Indians go on a buffalo hunt when a gang of scalp hunters intercept them. Enter Jeremiah Blunt, a daunting figure who enters the fray in a position of respect with courage.

With such a set up, and the impecable writing of David Thompson, an outstanding novel can only result. Being part one, this is just the beginning!

I stand in awe of the literary skill of David Thompson.
