I bought this DVD after reading Tanis Rideout's book, "Above All Things." I wanted to learn more about the climber, George Mallory, who mysteriously disappeared on Everest in 1924. This is the true story about the 1999 discovery of Mallory's body, by climber, Conrad Anker. Anker goes on to try and replicate Mallory's attempt to reach the summit of Everest, wearing clothing and using equipment similar to what was used by Mallory and his team. Anker's journey in Mallory footsteps is a fascinating story and the photograpy on Everest is breathtaking

Was disappointed. Not what I expected. .. I wish the description had been a lot.clearer. When I saw Ralph Fines and Natasha Richardson I assumed it was a movie about Mallory's expedition on My. Everest. It's actually a documentary Mallory. While it is extremely interesting and informative it just isn't what I was expecting. That's why I'm only giving it 3 stars. It would have been nice if they had said in the description it was an actual documentary.

This is not simply about a climb up Mount Everest but a great tribute to George Mallory. My only knock is that Conrad Anker and his sidekick didn't wear the same clothes as Mallory & Irvine. That was their intent, to re-create the climb of M&I using the same equipment and gear. They did at times but it looked like most of thetime they used the modern equipment and outerwear.
