Product Description

From Publishers Weekly

Johansen ( Strong, Hot Windsone title/pk ) gets her new trilogy off to a promising start with a lively and imaginative blend of romance and adventure set in early-16th-century Italy. A small gold statue of the winged horse Pegasus that, as legend has it, was given to Lionello Andreas's family at the fall of Troy has been stolen by Lion's enemy, Francisco Damari. The rightful owner intends to steal it back. A contact alerts him to an accomplished pickpocket whose loyalty and skills can be bought: 16-year-old Sanchia, a slave owned by a local printer. Lion acquires the girl, intending to exploit her talents to recover the statue and then retire her to a life of comfort. But the plan goes awry, and and by the time Sanchia falls into the hands of the brutal Damari, Lion has already begun to wonder if his real treasure might in fact be a light-fingered young woman. In Lorenzo Vasaro, companion to the hero, Johansen offers an unlikely but likable character who upstages everyone else in the book, a worldly-wise and intriguing blend of ruthlessness and charm. 700,000 first printing.

Review

Praise for Iris Johansen’s novels

“Iris Johansen keeps the reader intrigued with complex characters and plenty of plot twists....Moves so fast, you’ll be reading the epilogue before you notice.”
--People

“Johansen’s thrillers ooze enough testosterone to suggest she also descends from the house of Robert Ludlum. Johansen pushes the gender boundary in popular fiction, offering up that rarity: a woman’s novel for men.”
--Publishers Weekly

5.0 out of 5 stars I fell in love with this book!!!, Oct 1 2003
By Samantha (Sicily) - See all my reviews
Wind Dancer is by far the best romance novel I have read in a long time. You are drawn into this world of pain, suffering, revenge, and death, only to come out on top with love, hope and a strength that can overcome anything. Throught the book, its as if the lives of each character are being tossed about, broken and shaken up, yet their lives are just changing. I have heard from other reviews that they weren't interested in the fact that Iris wrote about death and many of the characters had to suffer so, but it all ties together in the next books. If the whole tragedy of Lorenzo and Caterina hadn't taken place, there would be no Vassaro, and therefore no trilogy of the Wind dancer! This book keeps you intrigued and pulls at your emotions until you feel breathless by the time you finish the book. I would recommend the rest of the books in the trilogy along with any book by Iris Johansen

5.0 out of 5 stars IRIS - I WANT MORE OF SAME!!!!, Jun 14 2003
By A Customer
This is my favorite book in the series. Lion and Sanchia are magic together, sexually, emotionally, verbally, everything! The author has dreamt up a world fraught with danger and treachery but also one full of out-of-this-world larger-than-life passion and love and made this reader want to abandon everything to jump into that world. Iris Johansen's heroes are the absolute best in the genre. No one can write a hero with more charisma, more power, more intelligence and sexual magnetism. I can't get enough of them frankly. Iris please go back to your 'sensual' romance days and write us up some more of them!!
P.S Other readers- if you love this book you'll also love The Tiger Prince another heavy hitting grand-scale epic romance with equally magnetic leading couple.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not thrilled with it..., May 15 2003
Really thought I'd like this since it's by IJ & the plot sounded like a good one - However, it just didn't do it for me. I just never was able to get involved with the characters - or even like them really. The hero (Lionelle) could have been an ok guy - but there was never any connection with him emotionally for me. The heroine was just a little too naive for the period & situation the IJ had placed her in. The romance nor the plot ever really did anything for me either. I don't know.... it has a real good rating & I know IJ is an excellent writer - so maybe it was just me.
