About the Author
Adam Nathan is a senior software development engineer in Microsoft’s Developer Division. He is the author of the acclaimed .NET and COM: The Complete Interoperability Guide (SAMS, 2002), a coauthor of ASP.NET: Tips, Tutorials, and Code (SAMS, 2001), and a contributor to books such as .NET Framework Standard Library Annotated Reference, Vol. 2 (Addison-Wesley, 2005) and Windows Developer Power Tools (O’Reilly, 2006). Adam regularly speaks at development conferences and to groups within Microsoft about a variety of .NET Framework topics. Having started his career on Microsoft’s Common Language Runtime team in 1999, Adam has been at the core of .NET technologies since the very beginning. Adam is also the creator of popular tools and websites for .NET developers, such as PINVOKE.NET, CLR SPY (and its Visual Studio add-in), and XAMLshare.com. I read this book a few months after the release of VS 9 (near the end of 2007), because I was about to use WPF at work and it is just great. Let's make this concise.Pros *Very well written. *Obviously, the author knows his stuff and how to transmit it *The content is well organized. I think that the chapters' chronology is almost perfect. *There is usually the programmatic version of the XAML way of doing things. Sometimes, I think that the book defeats MSDN on this aspect (grr! . . .) *Color presentation that helps grabbing some details in sample codes at a glance *Color presentation of sample executions. This aspect is extremely helpful; it is almost like executing the samples without the bother of actually doing so. It makes all the difference in chapter 10 for instance. Many style changes would be difficult to notice otherwise? *Precious side bar info such as the "Digging deeper" section; one of my preferred. I used to quickly consult the RelativeSource "digging deeper" section in chapter 9. By the way, chapters 3, 8, 9 and 10 are definitely among the best. Cons Well . . . a notorious thing one can complain about is that this book does not incorporate the rather negligible (in my opinion) new features of WPF 3.5. Considering the book's quality, this aspect should not be decisive. Consider reading the amazon.com (notice the ".com") reviews about this volume.

I'm really responding to this book, it's full color presentation really helps with clarity and researching.In terms of the copy style, I must say it does hit the intermediate level quite rapidly, but if this is where you are at in terms of experience, you should be able to take this book and have it by your desk for years of reference. Hi,I bought this book, because I saw it on various web sites that talk about WPF or have tutorials on it, and all of them referred the book. It is a very easy reading. Since I am new to wpf, I am enjoying very much reading it. I recommend.
