This is NOT another Lake Eden Novel!! Aug. 27 2013
By jmcbride1 - Published on
Format: Mass Market Paperback
If you are looking for ANYTHING like the Hannah Swensen mysteries, DO NOT BUY THIS! However, if you are looking for a darker mystery novel, you may want to give this book a try. Reading all the bad reviews, they all say the same thing, "this isn't like her other books" No, it's not, but that certainly doesn't make it bad, it's just different. It seems the book jacket alone will tell you this is not a Lake Eden book. I liked this book. There were moments of complete sadness and sorrow and if you want an upbeat book with laughs and happy ending, do not read this. This is a completely different genre and i wish people would recognize that before purchasing the book and then giving a horrible review. Also this book was written in 1984, so yes this is an "early work" and re-issued. It was no Hannah Swensen, but it was still a good book!!

Upsetting Dec 15 2013

I have never before wanted to un-read a book but this one is one that I wish I could un-read. It left me completely shocked and upset. I have never felt this way before and I read all types of literature.

Shocking!!! Aug. 14 2013

This book shocked me. I have read all this author's books and have thoroughly enjoyed them. They have been mystery cozies. This book was dark and scary. I still don't know which of all the characters was the really bad guy. Book was well written and moved right along. But I almost had to look under the bed when I was done. I am giving it a five because of the way it was written, but I never want to read one like it again.

the fake story Sept. 12 2013

I know that this was Ms Flukes second story she wrote back in the days before her cookie mystery's. What I don't understand is how she has continued to write. At first it started out very promising, setting up the two characters, however, that's all there was, just two stupid people, doing stupid things and feeling sorry for themselves. Just a few good chapters and the rest was boring, hovering beyond "why was I reading this story", to down right closing my kindle and not finishing it and not caring I actually paid for it. Ms Fluke stop re-issuing your old books, they are not good.

Great New Genre for Fluke! Aug. 11 2013
By pammur - Published on
Format: Mass Market Paperback
I was surprised to find a mystery by Fluke when most of her books are about food. This book was very chilling and had a rather disappointing ending. I'm not sure who the killer ended up being, I think I guessed who it was, but . . . . . .

I was amazed at the "one star reviews". I think most people like the simple food books Fluke writes. I was intrigued by this book and enjoyed it. Perhaps it is not everyone's "genre".

I will look for more books like this from Fluke. I'm glad she is broadening her book writing!
