“Robert Jordan has come to dominate the world Tolkien began to reveal.” ―The New York Times

About the Author

Robert Jordan was born in 1948 in Charleston, South Carolina. He taught himself to read when he was four with the incidental aid of a twelve-years-older brother, and was tackling Mark Twain and Jules Verne by five. He is a graduate of The Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina, with a degree in physics. He served two tours in Vietnam with the U.S. Army; among his decorations are the Distinguished Flying Cross with bronze oak leaf cluster, the Bronze Star with "V" and bronze oak leaf cluster, and two Vietnamese Gallantry Crosses with palm. A history buff, he has also written dance and theater criticism and enjoyed the outdoor sports of hunting, fishing, and sailing, and the indoor sports of poker, chess, pool, and pipe collecting.
Robert Jordan began writing in 1977 and went on to write The Wheel of Time®, one of the most important and best selling series in the history of fantasy publishing with over 14 million copies sold in North America, and countless more sold abroad.
Robert Jordan died on September 16, 2007, after a courageous battle with the rare blood disease amyloidosis.

Michael Kramer has narrated over 100 audiobooks for many bestselling authors. He read all of Robert Jordan's epic Wheel of Time fantasy-adventure series as well as Brandon Sanderson's The Stormlight Archive series. He received AudioFile magazine's Earphones Award for the Kent Family series by John Jakes and for Alan Fulsom's The Day After Tomorrow. Known for his "spot-on character portraits and accents, and his resonant, well-tempered voice" (AudioFile), his work includes recording books for the Library of Congress's Talking Books program for the blind and physically handicapped.

Kate Reading is the recipient of multiple AudioFile Earphones Awards and has been named by AudioFile magazine as a "Voice of the Century," as well as the Best Voice in Science Fiction & Fantasy in 2008 and 2009 and Best Voice in Biography & Culture in 2010. She has narrated works by authors as Jane Austen, Robert Jordan, Edith Wharton, and Sophie Kinsella. Reading has performed at numerous theaters in Washington D.C. and received a Helen Hayes Award for her performance in Aunt Dan and Lemon. AudioFile Magainze reports that, "With subtle control of characters and sense of pacing, Kate's performances are a consistent pleasure."

HASH(0xa5d74228) out of 5 stars My favorite fantasy series of all time. Oct. 11 2014
By Evan D Hale - Co author of the coming novel The Angel of Fortune - Published on

My favorite fantasy series of all time. I have them all in print and audio. I like to listen to them in audio and enjoy them even better. I am so grateful to the author and to his family and supporters. I love the plot and the characters. One of the best epic fantasies of all time bar none. Jordan inspired me to write. He will be missed. God bless.

Listening to a favorite series that I read years ago gives an entirely different "feel" for the story. It took a little bit of effort to get the story to flow, listening instead of reading, but it has been well worth it. I won't go into the story line, as it is an old story, and true fans don't need my meager words to appreciate it.

I read all the books to this searies and enjoyed them as much as The lord of the ring. Their are a few word changes in the audio but not a lot. You would only notice if you follow along with the books. I like to listen this this story when I run. One of the few thats long enough to last most of the way.

I have been wanting to re-read the Wheel of Time series now that the last few books are out. Unfortunately, I do not have the time to re-read all the old books I had previously bought. Listening to them in the car on the way to work and my other activities has been a wonderful use of my time.

I have read every book in this series so far and get completely sucked up into each volume. A great series with wonderful character development, excellent environment details and descriptions. A truly great series that everyone should read.
