About the Author
Beth Krommes received a BFA degree in painting from Syracuse University and a MAT in art education from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. Krommes' first illustrations were wood engravings, and then she began working in a scratchboard style.The House in the Night, featuring that style, won Krommes the Caldecott Medal in 2009. 'My mission is to create artwork that is joyful in spirit, universal in nature, and accessible and affordable to others,' Krommes says.

This calendar is gorgeous. Each new day of Advent there is a new sticker to be placed on the Winter Christmas scene. Most of the stickers are simple things like additional stars for the sky or some trees for the landscape. We were always more excited when we got an animal or something more exciting. I used it with my just-turned-three year old. It took a few days to get the idea across that we only open one date each day, but it was a nice way work on delay of gratification and to build some anticipation about the season. One of the prettiest advent calendars I've seen.

The art was swell and it was fun to add the stickers to the landscape. I would definitely get an Advent Calendar with art from the same artist in the future.

I got this both for my nieces and for my own family, wondering exactly what it was... and everybody loves it! It's beautifully illustrated, and it's good fun to figure out where to place each day's sticker.
