Just as our stores (i.e. Abercromby & Fitch; GAP; Macy's; Best Buy et. al.) are being polluted by loud, irritating and ear-drumming noise parading as music, along comes this spectacular "OLDIE" from the girl, we as pilots, painted on our plane's engines time and again! Proving that, as Grouchy Marx said: "it's time to come back to class, better nouveau than never!" Here is a slice of Americana so thoroughly classic and timelessly, that this 'buy' from AMAZON for this two CD set is a pure steal (How about two day delivery at $13.95!). Think of it, Doris Day was 88 years old this past Tuesday (April 03, 2012), was interviewed by Terry Gross of NPR and sounded for all the world as the legend she is. I can write this, our classic stations in Chicago (WFMT, WBEZ) are the worlds persistent purveyors of ads, travel, dinners, condo's, trailers, cars, pianos, luxury nonsense and sundry goods to the point that their announcers are audible constant billboards without equal. I say, switch to a good CD, like Doris Day's "With a Smile and a Song" and bring a moment of peace in this ever elevating decibel war of hawking deals, scams and come-ons. Hooray to Apple, Amazon and TCM for bring a modicum of sanity in this sea of specious sounds slushing around us. Oh yes, the record is sparkling, lively reminiscing and utterly enjoyable. GO!
