I played it on the easiest setting and completed Wyatt's timeline. Graphic are top notch. Holding R1 allows you a wide variety of weapons to choose from, along with a lot of bosses to try them out on. Other than the single player taking a long time to complete the game itself overall wasn't much different from call of duty ghosts. It took me a lot more than 8 hours to finish Wyatt's timeline. The courtyard scene, and the end boss were the most challenging parts of the game.
As far as replay value; you can platinum it by clearing the objectives for the trophies. There's room to explore even though the game proceeds in a linear fashion.
Glad it was a day one purchase. Will pre-order Doom day one as well. Bethesda really outdid themselves with this game staying true to the wolfenstein cause. I didn't mention the mood and atmosphere and those effects were great too. You have the concentration camps with robots, the torture scenes with more robots, and the train scene. Then to top it off you have Anns diary which add a whole new light on it.. I was a fan at the time with the 2D wolfenstein available on both the apple mac and win 95 and I can say this game does the series justice.
Moving on, the FPS mechanics are good, and the game itself is pretty hard, especially in the face of (totally realistic) resource constraints. After four attempts to defeat three drone copters with zero ammo, I switched from "Bring em on" to binky-baby mode, with the intention of just seeing the bloody thing that I'd paid for without suffering an aneurysm from rage. Even on easy mode, the final boss kept chewing me up, and I abandoned it after about 10 attempts. I will go back, and will finish it, and play it on harder modes... frankly there is a certain appeal to a game that's actually hard to play.
I also want to go back and replay the whole thing, getting all the perks. You unlock a series of abilities by performing certain common tasks, with the occasional oddball. I like stealth, and worked through most of that tree without any particular focus.
I found myself a bit put off by some of the visuals. I don't like torture scenes, and there was lots of gruesome imagery.Read more ›
