5.0 out of 5 stars Gripping stuff!, May 20 2004
By
This review is from: Wolf's Trap (Paperback)
Don't let the disappointing cover art put you off -- this is a well-written, professionally crafted piece of work, a must-read for any fan of the werewolf. The last third of the book went by so fast, but I just had to get to the end. The suspense was killing me!

5.0 out of 5 stars Scary, gory, chilling new werewolf novel, Mar 27 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Wolf's Trap (Paperback)
This new horror book is a darn good read. It was recommended by a friend, and she wasn't wrong... If you were a werewolf and a cop, and somebody started killing off your friends and leaving you messages, what would you do? What would you do if the messages made it obvious the killer knew your secret? Nick Lupo is that cop, and he can't figure out who hates him and why. At least not at first. But then-- wait, I don't want to ruin it. There's a kind of musical theme that runs through the book, too, almost a soundtrack that probably makes perfect sense to fans of progressive rock from the 70s. It's a nice element to add! The author switches points of view alot, presenting all the main characters until you feel you can understand why they got to be the way they are. The action is quick and gory, but it all fits. Gagliani shows a lot of promise as a novelist; out of the recent batch of werewolf books, this is one of the best. Give it a try and you might want to check out Harry Shannon and Cheri Scotch, too. They're dealing with werewolves, but in different ways. Looks like the wolf is back!

4.0 out of 5 stars a creepy romp in the WI northwoods!, Mar 23 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Wolf's Trap (Paperback)
I picked this book up for several reasons: vampire, serial killer, and a northwoods setting! Having grown up in WI and spent a lot of time "up north", the setting was the real draw at first. But then I got sucked in to the characters and the story! Nick Lupo is a fascinating guy. Gagliani has written a great first novel. I hope to meet up with Lupo again in the future.
