This review is from: Wolverine Origins: Seven the Hard Way (Paperback)
It's hard to review a Wolverine story because he is one of those comic characters that Marvel Comics has decided to overkill by producing several titles a month featuring the character in solo adventures as well as appearing in team books. So for me, there has to be something very special going on for a Wolverine story to stand out. I found "Seven The Hard Way" to be that kind of story.
This adventure is part of the 'Wolverine vs. Romulus' arc, and it chronicles Wolverine's quest to secure allies against his fearsome foe. Aside from Wolverine's knockabout with Skaar--son of Hulk, the mutant encounters Bruce Banner, the Silver Samurai, Marvel Knights favorite Cloak, Ares--the god of War, and a couple more guest appearances that I won't ruin for anyone who plans to grab this book based on my review.
The book is humorous, fast-paced, and action-packed. Although it does not conclude the Romulus arc, you will see an exciting climax with this segment's villian. It's the kind of story that makes one enjoy simple comic book action. It is a story that plants Wolverine firmly in the Marvel Universe, as opposed to the storylines that keep him secluded in isolated mutant-only affairs. Even the comic reader who's a little burned out on Wolverine overkill will find this tale highly enjoyable and memorable.
