This is regarding the 'Women in Prison Triple Feature: Mr. Skin Presents' version of "Chained Heat", "Red Heat" and "Jungle Warriors". I bought this DVD for basically the uncut and widescreen version of "Chained Heat", which was all there to my knowledge - it's been a long time since I had seen it last. It definitely was way more violent than I remember. Still a classic in it's own right. Linda Blair was always an under-appreciated actress of her time by the mainstream, and this is one of her best film performances and one of her sexiest! This is the movie that warranted the stars in my rating - I would have given this film on it's own 5 stars. But as a triple feature, it's the only movie worth getting it for. So consider this when figuring out how much you wish to spend to purchase this set. I've seen on another listing for a release of "Chained Heat" here on Amazon, the inclusion of a Linda Blair commentary (I believe it was), which might be something you wish to have with your version of this movie. But unfortunately they review that it isn't the uncut version. This uncut version does not have a Linda Blair commentary or interview sadly. It does however have two short and interesting interviews with Sybil Danning and Stella Stevens that are very recent and informative. But not having Blair interviewed is definitely a misfire for this compilation. It has the original Trailer and a Mr. Skin Intro as a choice.
A HUGE Warning for fans of "Red Heat" (also with Linda Blair), it is a CUT VERSION. The infamous and very necessary scene between Blair and Sylvia Krystal (from "Emmanuelle" and "Private Lessons") is missing! It's the main moment of the film! For those who are not informed of what scene I am referring to, here is the premise: Blair gets locked up in a room (she's in a Russian Prison) with Sylvia, who plays the prison's cell head honcho, a man who is the head guard basically, and the weak cellmate who sells Blair out. Sylvia, in the original complete version, is topless and on top of Blair - who also 'becomes' topless, while the head guard watches. It's a little violent and of course a little sexy, depending on your tastes. Sylvia basically 'takes' Blair, for all her desires while the other prisoners are watching a boring propaganda film in another area. What you get in this version is Sylvia demanding the weakened cellmate to hold her, they cut to the other prisoners watching the film, then you have Blair lying on her front with a distant teary-eyed look on her face with Sylvia threatening that this could 'happen' again any time in the future. Acting gone to waste and a very important scene that is the main reason for Blair finally cracking and then giving us the wonderful peeved off Blair who's out for blood - that we all love so well! And yet the Mr. Skin Intro for this film dicusses this well regarded scene boasting the "t*t on t*t" action of Blair and Krystal...which isn't even there. They even show you a quick snippit of it, and so does the Trailer provided. It just isn't the same film without it. Like cutting away the Ned Beatty scene from "Deliverance", it wouldn't make any sense. Plus I think they may have shaved extra nude shots out, especially of Blair making love to her fiancee in the movie, among possibly others.
"Jungle Warriors" (with Sybil Danning) was a complete waste of time. I've never seen this film before until this DVD compilation, so I wouldn't know if they had cut out a bunch of stuff or not. But there wasn't a whole lot of anything there. Sybil, for one, is barely even in this film. She couldn't have had a page of lines here. Nothing even takes place for about 40 minutes, and I'm talking action, nudity, or where the ladies are even in a 'prison' until then. These actresses aren't new to this genre either, it even has the large-cheasted blonde who played 'Giggles' from "Chained Heat". She dies almost instantly and doesn't do anything. John Vernon is also in the film, who played the Warden in "Chained Heat" - he at least had another page of lines. Sybil does show her backside, lying down getting an oil rub. But they show that in both the Mr. Skin Intro and the Trailer - not worth getting the movie for.
Also worth noting, both "Red Heat" and "Jungle Warriors" have no interviews with any of the stars. Sybil even mentions "Jungle Warriors" in the "Chained Heat" interview, when referring to John Vernon and working with him again, but no separate interview for "Jungle Warriors" - but then, what on earth would she have to say? She was barely in the film! She's done way better, too bad they wasted her on this film! All in all, if you want the uncut widescreen version of "Chained Heat" with two short but good interviews with 2 of the stars, this is worth your purchase - the rest doesn't derseve your time or money.
