Product Description

2009 release from one of the veteran Metal band. Nine studio albums, thousands of live shows and nearly three decades into a career that's made them one of the biggest and most important Metal bands in the world, the members of Slayer know exactly what kind of music they make: brutal but beautiful, punishing yet precise. A fresh Slayer record is a thing of terror but also one of trust: You can depend on what you're getting even if you're unprepared for it. As guitarist Jeff Hanneman says, ''At this point, I think a Slayer album pretty much speaks for itself.''

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful By Antonio // LoudTrax.com on Nov. 19 2009
Format: Audio CD
Slayer is back with yet another strong album's worth of speed, blood, and more blood! In my opinion, their strongest album since "Diabolus in Musica". Favorite trax are "Beauty Through Order" & "Hate Worldwide" & "Human Strain". Lyrics are intense throughout the album, including comments on the planets' oil controversies on "Americon".

The bonus DVD (Limited Edition only) includes a 20 minute graphic video "Playing with Dolls", written and directed by Mark Brooks. Story of a young boy who discovers his mother killed and in her own pool of blood. He grows up with deep personal issues, I mean deep, and reconciles himself by trying to bring his mother back, by using the various body parts of the women he has killed. Blood, Blood and more Blood.

Be warned, it is quite intense and a little disturbing. Seeing a nun get whacked across the head with a huge cross, hmmm. If you're a big Slayer fan, than this is something you'd probably like to have and should have as the packaging and double digipack is quite impressive. Otherwise, the DVD is not something you would watch more than once.

Overall 8/10

This album is what a lot of Slayer fans have been waiting for. I believe this album is better because of the change in way that this Slayer album came together. The songs were a product of teamwork and it shows! my only beef is that there was no lyrics or liner notes with the deluxe packaging.

Not their best album but an interesting try of doing something different. The sound is completely different from precedents records, I would say it s simpler and make me think to the Show no mercy period. I cannot find a special song on that record (as dead skin mask or hell awaits), the mood could be describe as a fusion of true slayer and the Undisputed attitude cover album.

Classic Slayer, but don't expect a 'Reign in Blood' or 'Seasons'. It's a solid thrash record.
